Hi
Has anyone ever had images / "scenes" from their dreams flash into their minds during waking times? I have always had pretty vivid dreams yet the past few days I have constantly had flashbacks from my dreams intruding into my day, leaving me with a really odd sensation and out of joint with reality. It's starting to get quite disturbing. I have hunted around on the net and all I seem to find points to mental illness |

It is quite normal to remember some dreams you had the night - or even a week before, however when you re - enter into a dream that might mean that you have micro sleeps. It would be better to have your condition checked out with your GP. You never can tell how long the micro-sleeps last. Cheers Wolfjk

That sounds really strange huh? Question...Are you "seeing" these flashbacks in front of you or are you just recalling them into memory? If your seeing them is it like a trance? Where the room you are in fades into the background and the flashback is all you see?
Hope to help Vee |

What about dreams that come back to you suddenly from years ago? I've had that happen a lot. And then there are the de' ja vu episodes. These make me feel out of touch, yet superior at the same time. I will be sitting there and realize that I know what is going to be said and done next, before it it is said or done. At this point I am not participating in the activity but observing from the perspective one might have when watching a movie they've already seen. The weirdest is when it's my turn to say something. i say it, but it's like I'm hearing it twice...while I'm saying it, and in my head. i have never experimented with changing it up from the original dialog.

Wolfjk has made a good suggestion. It could be dream recall. Or they may be day dreams that we get in a moment of peace and quiet. Because we have little to do at that time. Or when reading a magazine at lunch, etc. Boredom at work can allow the mind to 'drift', and our imagination take over. We find ourselves wanting to be elsewhere, usually lying on a beach in the Bahamas. Or we see someone outside in the Sun and envy them. I felt like this when working at a University one Summer, while the students were just idly lazing about.
But if you feel there is a deeper cause Wolfjk is right. See your GP. I did when I got insomnia, and was taking things for it. But they didn't work. So I saw neurologists. It turned it that my sleeplessness was the prelude to a nervous breakdown. Life was starting to get to me [out of control] - esp work - and I just cracked. I ended up in hospital, and had a whole host of tests done. I still take a low dose of meds, and see health workers and so on. Just to keep 'an eye' on things, and prevent relapse. Although I feel much better in myself, am back to work, and my life is getting on track. It's better to be safe, than sorry.

I have panic disorder and most of my panic attacks start when i re-enter dreams during waking hours. I'm suddenly over-whelmed with a dream from the previous night. Because my dreams are so vivid, the memories of them sometimes overcome me, it's a very scary thing. i've never been able to figure this out.

Whenever I get 'panic attacks' people bombard me with what they considered to be 'good advice'. Or try various things in an ' attempt to help' [not necessarily done by the same people, I should point out]:- 1) Telling me to hold my breath and counting to 10. 2) Getting me to breathe deeply into a paper bag. 3) Giving me a big glass of brandy or whisky! 4) Slapping me round the face to 'bring him to his senses'. Usually accompanied by 'snap out of it, and don't be silly'. Definitely don't recommend that one.... 5) Throwing cold water over me. This comes from 'disciples' of the No 4 School of Counselling. 6) Trying to 'take my mind off it' through books or TV. I make sure I chose the progs and reading matter. After a panic attack horror films are not ideal. Unless they are trying the 'shock tactics'. 7) By talking it over and analysing what had caused them in the first place. But be careful who you do this with. And use your own discretion with what they tell you. As the saying goes: The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions. In several of these, leading to Bad Remedies [those just make things worse than before]. Me: I just went for a Lie Down in a Darkened Room with a Couple of Paracetomol. After all that, I needed it....

haha JON, yes the most annoying of all is the "snap out of it" or "chill" the latter drives me insane. I once had someone tell me that i don't need any 'drugs' i just need to 'chill out' i thought i'd strangle her. It's like when you stump your toe and everyone in the room wants to repeatly ask you questions, "are you alright?" "what happened" Can't you see my face is blood red with pain, shut up! ahh but that wouldn't be nice.

![]() Hi Licia. Love that band. I've been told the bag you blow into is supposed to be a brown paper one. My sister has a husband and two young kids, and life gets really hectic for her. Even with her Reiki and Crystal Therapy training. She's doing her Masters on the former, and I've offered to be a 'test guinea-pig'! Which brings me neatly onto the pets she's bought to relieve stress. The foresaid guinea-pig is one, and called Moppet or Muppet [I can never remember which]. The other is a rabbit called Flopsy [due to one droopy ear]. Returning to dreams, I've recently posted the following, and they're getting some feedback. I'd be interested to see what you make of them:- My Freakiest Dream Dragon Under The Mountain Thanks. Regards. Jon [Me boogying to that band!]
