dream about a baby what does it mean?

hi my name is ricky and i have a stepdaughtre named jenny.i have not seen jenny or talked to her in probably three years because i am remarrired to another womna ,not her mother.we for the most part always got a long pretty well and when iwas single and she was growing up i lived out of town and she wisited often.i adopted jenny when she was 9 years old and she nevr new her real father.anyway why i am posting and asking for help is i saw my ex-brother in law ,her uncle around a year ago and he said she was married and doing good and had a baby boy.i gave him my number and asked him to give it to her and if she wanted to call me because i would really like to see her and the baby.her real mother my ex wife is a drug addict and has had many problems over the years and thats why we dont communicate.so last night i had a dream in which my father who is deceased,my ex wife and jenny and the baby were all in it.it was not what i would call a bad dream but in the dream i did not recognize jenny and when i asked my ex wife about her she said thats jenny right there.i think i was about to walk away but i thought if ever there was a chance to see her and the baby it was then.when i asked to hold the baby she hesitated but my ex wife said go ahead and let me see the baby and when she did and i held the baby in my arms,the baby was a candle.a round red candle with a stick or stem on the bottom.the candle was lit and burning but in my dream it still seemed like d the baby even though i saw a candle.i know this sounds very far fetched but ever since i have wondered why the baby was a burning candle and what possible meaning it would.i have tried contacting my ex wife and brother in law but have had no success and would try to contact jenny but i dont know her last namesince she got married.if there is anyone who could help maybe explain the meaning of the baby and the candle i would so much appreciate this or if it really means nothing and was just a silly dream then so be it but it is really on my mind and if anyone can help thank you so much in advance.you can email me at uknuckle@bellsouth.net thanks again

I'll get this question out of the way . . . you're not thinking that there is a possiblity that this baby is yours--are you?

It's been three years since you've seen your step daughter, so I'll say that it is probably not a possibility, but then again . . .

Anyway, if this is not even a concern, then perhaps the candle doesn't represent the child, but the fact that you still feel a connection with your ex. Despite what she put you through a flame still burns in your heart for her and for that part of your past life to which you can never return. Life will "never hold a candle" to what you once had together--back then. You hope that your ex feels the same way, thus your insistance that Jenny hand you the candle and your ex agreeing to let you hold it.

The relationships as mentioned by you seem to be tenuous (loosely connected) and as you have moved on the message of your dream may simply be that you would have your 'fingers burnt' if you tried to remake contact. It seems to be suggesting that you leave 'well' alone.

Sometimes in dreams the subconscious struggles to recognise people you have not seen for some time. I had dreams where in the dream the face didn't fit the person, and the dream tryed another face.
Involved and complicated dreams are usually caused by some problem in sleep. In your case the dream was trying to take your mind off some burning sensation, probably heartburn caused by indigestion.
As you never seen the baby yoursubconscious represented it as a burning candle. It sounds bizzare but it makes more sense if you know that the dream is transferring the burning sensation in your chest to the candle. There were probably other parts to the dream what you cannot remember.
From the text of the dream I gather you were very fond of Jenny and would be glad to see her do well.
