Default My old friend is dying...

I know this is off-topic, but I just wanted to share with you something sad that is happening, guess it makes me feel a bit better to talk about it.

My schnauzer, Bitsy, which I had since a puppy, 10 years old, today she was diagnosed with lythoma cancer. She had a growth on her neck that was rather large, and when I noticed it, I took her to the vet right away. They sent a sample to the lab and it tested positive for cancer...

The vet is contacting Alburn University in AL they have a vet medicine department that will test her to see if she is too far gone to be saved. I am praying she will be fine.

I let myself become very close to her, I feel like she's my daughter, this is hard for me.

Say a prayer for her please, she needs all the help she can get.

Hi,
This world has no kindness and fidelity everyone come and goes, there is no way out.
Once about 400 years ago there was a young student in Nejef in Iraq That his father used to send him money to continue his studing from Iran.
In the life adventures he didn't receive any money for six months and was short of money he fasted for food for a month and he was shame to lend money, at last he lended a black coin to have some soup of testina in the early morning and a piece of bread. In the way home he heard some weak noise and when looked he saw a she- dog with its puppies hungry and the mother had no milk, so the student sat in front of them and tilted the bread in the testina soup and gave the dog.He was back home hungry.
In a few years this student was so rich that in his order there was built two big schools and two big mosques in Isfahan That still exist after 400 years.

What a beautiful creature, Palehorse!!! What bright eyes!!...... I wonder just how is she acting at this point?.... If she seems fine, then let her live out her life until what may come is come..... Until then, don't let sadness disturb your time with her.... Use these days to fill your thoughts with all her presence...... That will do you good as well as her.....

Your sister,
Ginger

That picture is from 2001, I like that picture best. She is actually "acting" fine which is why I want to have her tested. If the cancer has not reached her bone marrow yet there is a chance chemo will put her in remission. I can't just give up on her, been my close friend for 10 years now.

As your dog has been loved and, in the event of its passing it will be missed, then its life will not have been in vain.

Heres an update. They are staging her today and removing one of the lymph nodes. They are going to start her on chemotherapy and give her an 80 to 90% chance to go into remission

They figure it will add a year or two to her life. Had I done nothing at all she would have likely died within 2 months.

So I am pleased to report it is looking up for her. And it really is a lot less expensive then I thought it would be. Also chemo for dogs are a LOT less intrusive then for people. They think she won't even notice shes on chemo, and will likely play and stuff as normal. Also those gastly swellings will go away too.

((((Ohhhh Mike!))))

I'm so sorry to hear your baby is feeling ill. My own childhood family dog was a Schnauzer named "Schatze" and I understand your relationship to your sweet girl! Posting a pic of your sweetheart brought back lovely memories.

Schatze also ended up with cancer, originally discovered because of a tumor near the neck too, oddly enough. She lived to the ripe old age of 13 with no chemo, though her temperment declined in the last year due to the pain.

I think the chemo is an excellent idea and I'm so glad it isn't cost prohibitive for you!!! May she live many more joyful years with you!! (((Hugs!)))

Love you!
Sowelu

Hi,
If she plays , barks and acts good, I 'm not agreed with chemo she will lose her health and will feel ill.
Let her leave untill she will have pains or sufferings.Of course if they diagnosed the tumor progressive.
Good luck,
