| General Chit-Chat Kind of like a lounge, just come in and talk about anything at all. Relax, this is like the water cooler at the office. |

I'm so enjoying this dreamchat. I haven't had this kind of intellectually stimulating conversation in years, but I wonder how people feel about this chat really.
First, is it crazy to talk about dreams like this? Whenever I try to get to this level and discuss dreams or nightmares, people get defensive. It's like a taboo topic with some. I'm lucky that some of my friends and family don't mind getting really deep and talking about this stuff, but dare I say when I mention dreams at work, people think I'm nuts. Second, is intereracting with people on the internet a substitute for having fulfilling relationships with people face to face? Is there an avoidance issue to all of this, like it's just so safe to vent and open up to strangers, as long as our usernames are different? There's something in me that resists this whole internet/electrical gadget revolution. For instance, I cannot afford a cell phone and even if I had the money I don't think I'd want one. I just don't know why but I'm resistant to using machines to connect with others, although sometimes it's the cheapest and easiest way to stay in touch. |
