Count your blessings! Not remembering dreams means that you are a healthy, well balanced individual with no hang-ups and no major health problems. You remember dreams when there are problems in sleep and your subconscious has to wake you or move you about in bed. However, if you want to risk your health there are several methods of creating bad dreams that you remember. I shall not give any on open forum. Cheers Wolfjk

I am a very deep sleeper and due to this cannot remember my dreams. There are many side effects to deep sleep that are not helpful. I think dreams are important to having a more productive day. Why do people say your lucky to not remember. I help people overcome the deep sleep tendency of enuresis. I know that the deep sleep is a problem for many. Nightmares, i have had a couple in my life, are important to. I believe our dreams are trying to tell us something. Interpreting dreams gets catchy because you would really need to know them to give any sort of an accurate info. symbols and dreams are not accurate either due to the environment one placed themselves in before sleeping. I just want to remember my dream. I have had a little success drinking a bunch of water before bed to help me sleep lighter. I went the bathroom more than anything. send me an email with your info if you want it private. I appreciate it very much.

If you tried driking too much water before going to to bed. you will know that your dreams actually wake you up to go to the toilet. Dreams control the sleep and if something goes wrong in sleep they wake you up. No matter what people tell, or old books tell you about the importance of dreams, don't believe it! Dreams do their work in the sleep they happen in. There is very little meaning or use after you wake up. Apart from reoccurring dreams, which may have the same cause and indicat the same problem or illness. Perhaps the least harmful way of causing dreams is to use unusual smelly stuff in bed. Some cold cures like vick or olibamum can cause strange dreams. Using different scented herbs can also cause dreams, however when the subconscious gets used to the scent the dreams stop. You have to use a different one. Certain foods that are hard to digest also cause bad dreams, so do some drugs and medicines. So you can see that dreams are responses to outside influences. However psychological upsets; arguments losing a fight, an embarrassing event, or feeling of inadequacy also cause bad dreams. Remembering dreams you can do without! If you have a look ar this thread it will give you some ideas about the smelly stuff! The only problem with it that if one does it to ease or cure an illness, it actually makes it worse by take the subconscious minds attention away from it. You don't get the natural healings dreams do without a fuss! Cheers Wolfjk

I've actually read a book about Lucid Dreaming that included tips on how to remember your dreams.
1. Have half a glass of water before bed and then drink the rest of it in the morning. It is said to help with the remembering process. 2. Your dreams happen during your sleep and during your sleep you tend to toss around. When you wake up try different positions (on your side, on your stomach, etc) to see if you remember anything better. 3. Have a notebook or piece of paper next to your bed and write down anything you remember as the day goes on. Eventually it will add up and maybe you'll remember more. 4. Go over names of people you know in your head. Perhaps one name will stand out because you had a dream about or related to this person. Hmm, that's all I remember for now. If I find that book, called Creative Dreaming I think, I might add more. |

The most seasoned dreamers will experience "no recall." I have a habit of dreaming, turning over, and thinking that I will remember, but, unless I write in my journal, I most likely will lose the dream. If I awaken naturally, I remember my dreams in great detail. If I am rudely awakened, the dreams can slip away.
I have had things trigger a memory later in the day, and I add it to my journal. I rarely have a false memory. Sometimes, I am lucky to remember even one word, and other times, I feel that I can add a lot of xtra details. I can even become aware of a window in a dream, although I do not see it directly with my brain eye, my dreaming "side" vision seems to catch the details. |

i've had dreams that i've forgotten later. I usually, after i just had a dream, wake up but then, not physically writing, just go thru the dream again mentally. Its not about remembering every detail but using repetition. I going thru the major pieces. This way my mind remembers later and i can recall several dreams at a later time.

I'm a deep sleeper too, and I remember most of my dreams.
Some tips: Don't think too much before you sleep, perhaps some little nice thoughts, but not problems. Because if you do, it's either you'd dream of your problem, or wouldn't even feel your sleep. Don't jump out of bed, and don't think about anything stressful immediately when you open your eyes. Having a smooth transition from the dreamworld to the real world helps too. Just open you eyes, and think first thing about your dream. Sometimes, it helps not changing your position as well. And don't stretch immediately. In my case, stretching totally wakes me up and reminds me of the things I have to do. |

Hi Beltfed,
Wow! You have gotten a lot of very good replies to your question on how to remember what you dream about. I believe dreams have hidden messages for you and remembering the dream story and the symbols in the dream is a good start to interpretation. But having intuitive skills on the part of the dream reader is a must have for an insightful decoding of the dream's message for you. One good way to remember a dream: As you relax and start to doze off say, I will remember my dream. Just whisper it to yourself a few times as you drift off to sleep. This usually works for me A DREAMS-TELLER
