Hey all...I am new to the board. Nice to meet ya !
I have been dreaming alot lately and its waking me up all the time and interfering with a good nights sleep....Its driving me nuts. I just want to freaking sleep.....It feels like I am having so many dreams a night and I get woken for each one... I have been very anxious lately...not for anything that dramatic even ..but for some reason I have been on edge...and Im sure thats coming out in my dreams. I am generally an anxious perosn...and this dreamy thing doesnt always happen... I was wondering if there is a way to control your dreams to make them positive and safe feeling...how do you influence your dreams? I was listening to my ipod ( audio books ) to help get to sleep which works great but then I thought maybe the stories were what was making me dream...so I listen to something positive now "the secret" while I go to sleep... but I need to calm the dreams down any ideas? I appreciate the advice... thanks Leesh |

Yes there is, but it takes time; the first step for me was actually being able to recall them; then become aware in them then at last controlling them. Mind you, I don't always have control (like a nightmare last night) but I am self aware and can tell myself they are dreams.

Hi Leesh,
I had that happening too, and part of it, I think is opening up to dreams, but somehow, it doesn't connect somewhere that we don't function too well when we're totally exhausted. Day life is important too! I started taking melatonin to regulate my sleep cycle... just 1 mg... about a half hour before bedtime, and you need to try to make bedtime regular. Melatonin is just a chemical from cherries, and actually you could also eat cherries or drink cherry juice, but cherries have a very short growing season, and the juice is expensive. Melatonin is available very cheaply. I have found it in Stop & Shop, but if yours doesn't have it, any health food store should. If you take the higher mg. ones, you may find it's overkill. I took a 3mg. tablet for awhile, and was groggy half the morning. So try 1 mg. first! You can always take another one if you wake at three a.m. or something. Valerian Root is another sleep aid that is herbal and non-addictive. I prefer capsules for that, though it's also available in tea, but it tastes horrible. I only take one capsule, not the two or three it says on the bottle, and only on nights when I really can't shut off the internal chatter to get to sleep. It's also a muscle relaxant, so helps when my fibromyalgia flares up. I don't remember as many dreams as I used to, but I do remember early morning ones very clearly, and those are generally the most important anyway. I also have a White Light Meditation for cleansing, shielding, and filtering, if you'd like to have that. Just let me know! It was given to me by my spirit guide, and it really helps when I have a period where I'm getting in too much scary stuff about world disasters and such.
