I can't remember the last time I had a black and white dream so I don't see what is abnormal about it.

Controlling your dreams is step 2; step 1 is remembering them

Most people dream in colour, so stay assured it's not weird. And the fact you remember them it's your own luck...you wake up just in time for them to stay in your memory!
From experience, when waking up at certain hours or periods of the night, I remember my dreams much more clearly, and they stay in my memory for much longer. |

Hi April,
I think that the notion that most people dream in black and white is myth! I dream in full color most of the time. On the rare occasion when I dream in black and white, then the lack of color is a symbol. It's telling me my view on a given subject is too "black and white"... i.e., too tied to legalistic or logical thinking, not allowing enough emotion, too focused on "right and wrong" vs. seeing the bigger picture and trying to understand someone's point of view... something like that. Emotion comes in color, like we say we're feeling blue, or think of yellow being cheerful. So the colors can be important to pay attention to. I go through periods where I remember every dream all night, and then through periods where I'm lucky if I remember the last one before I wake. But I'm a very moody person, and have had to work on trying to get a regulated sleep cycle at all. I used to have terrible insomnia. I think the melatonin (substance from cherries) that I take to help that also diminishes my recall, darn it! But I'm so much more rested, that I tolerate it. I still catch the early morning ones, usually, and often take a nap and those are remembered fairly easily, as they're often lucid, as I'm only half asleep then. |

I have found the same problem with recall when I take any type of sleep aid, natural or not.

I see red and green in my dreams, one dream actually had dayglow colors, that was when I was younger... I remember many of my dreams... we are unusual, yes because people are not supposed to dream in color, but there are many that do... I am an indigo child, you may be to, because it seems to be a trait of us (though its not reconized yet... but I'm working on it...) look up Indigo children and see if the traits match you if not there is also crystal children, you are welcome to join our group on facebook.com (it is one of the reasons I am on every day...) hope I helped
