Hey,
Im 19 yrs old n have just finished beauty school. I now have the opputunity to go and work in spain and live out there while studyin spanish and literature. This is my lifelong dream as i love the language and the country! However i have had this option before and didn't take it because i was too scared, i have very little self confidence and dont know how i would cope alone in a country where i will be in a mainly spanish speaking area as well. I have had so many dreams that i think are related to my feelings and in some dreams i get there and it is amazing and in some its terrible. Sometimes i wake up feeling awful and homesick in my own bed! All this in mind, i am starting to face the same fears that stopped me going last year and i don't really know what to do as it's all swings and round a bouts really. Has anyone had to move country on their own? Or could someone help me figure out where my heads at because now i just dont know lol one minute i want to go but i have this constant linguring doubt. Does this mean i should not go? Thanks xx |

Hi Hannah1234,
Write a note to yourself before retiring to bed. In that note, ask yourself why you should go to Spain. Post your subsequent dream here and I will try to help you unravel its perspective. I hope this helps.

Hi Hannah,
It's normal to have mixed feelings about such a big change and your dreams are reflecting all these different emotions/concerns. I have a couple of tit bits to offer: How might you feel in 20 years time if you didn't go? Would you regret not taking this opportunity and always wondering "what if"? If you don't like it you can always come home. I am Spanish but live in the UK. In my experience Spanish people are very friendly and welcoming. I'm sure you would make friends quickly. This is a great opportunity for self development. It's hard sometimes to step out of our comfort zone but when we do we find many positive qualities in ourselves that we didn't know were there.

go for it!!! Your life is now.don't put off tomorrow what you can do today.. I'm going to school part time and have a lot of ties and responsibilities to being here with my children... your life has just begun.. make the right decisions now.. i understand that your circumstances are different than mine but i also understand that i loved to travel when i was your age (im 27 now).. i only wish i can travel like that these days.. every decision you make leads to another decision you'll have to make ,obviously.. make the right one in your heart. don't let your head get the best of you.. fear is what you feel when you take your focus off the goal..learn from other peoples experiences. observe them, then reflect on yourself.. where do you want to be when your my age? your first answer while your reading this is your gut instinct -your right answer

definately go, even though this is the second time you have had this opportunity. You may not have it again. You only have one life, you must live it to the full.
I moved from England to Australia six years ago with my mum, I went back to England by myself for a month two years ago... Lets just say I prefer living in Australia a lot more and I am glad I moved. I know the language in the two countries are the exact same, but you will learn and become more confident.

Well, unlike others I will have to tell you that if you are unsure or afraid, then don't do it. A feeling of less than confidence or fear or anything negative is sure to attract something equally negative, and that is just the way life works. We tend to predetermine a lot of things and this is no different. Even if the pros outweigh the cons I wouldn't go if I still had that uneasy feeling that you are having. The practical reasons are many, (how well do you speak the language, who is there to help you, will you have a support network, how stable is the opportunity, what happens if you are nations away and trouble creeps in, what will you do...) I would never put myself in that kind of position and maybe that's why you feel the way you do. If this was right for you, you probably would have had different reaction. You'll know when the time is right and it doesn't sound to me like it is now.

It's all about risk. You are the only one who knows if the risk is worth it and maybe the risk is minor but that wouldn't explain the dream then. Risk is something you calculate and manage, not just jump in. The question here is why do you think you're having the dream?
