Just curious about everyone's thoughts on visions?? I've had several visions during meditation and wondered if visions are in the same league as nite/day dreaming??

Hi,
You have to contemplate the nature of meditation. When you meditate you enter into a state or aim for mental inertia. Actually you are causing yourself boredom. In waking life when something bores you youstart yawning and go to sleep. Meditation has the same effect; you go to sleep without realising it and have a refreshing rest without realising that you've been sleeping. owever your subconscious creates a dream to wake you up. So your vision is no more than a transient dream that wakes you up.

Hello Wolfjk,

So visions have the same nature as day dreams? A placebo to get motivated and out of boredom? fantasy perhaps? Your thougts please

I usually jump on my computer when I'm bored and look for interesting stuff to do or people to talk to on the net.

Hi,
If you look at life in general, it consist of a series interests. Family, health, art, work, money, entertainment, quest for pleasure and all the emotions one experiences. However we have to rest every so often, and even in that rest we have interesting dreams and after every sleep, we need a dream to bring us back from the land of nod to carry on the endlees search for the activities that keep us compus mentis!
Cheers Wolfjk

I DO feel pretty rested after meditation it calms all da worrying and helps me focus. I have to admit that I am relieved dat I'm not putting myself into some kind of trance or hypnotic state - that would be freaky!!

my experience with meditation/prayer has led me to a handful of visions and/or voices.

sometimes the visions i see are just eyes looking back at me. multiple eyes. multiple emotions in them. fading and re-appearing against a screen.
sometimes they are whole figures, from which i have a vivid recollection of their appearence, and have sketched down several of these.

the whole figures always look me in the 'eye,' sometimes with speech, sometimes silent. but always incredibly real.
i never recognize any of these people, but they all seem to know me from some place in time.

as for being 'bored?'--i rather think of it as being 'aware.'

Hi,
Welcome to the forum!
The vision is the "thing" It is always good to visualise ones own subconscious mind, and how it relates to the conscious brain. My experience is that one must regard the subconscious to be super conscious! When you're bored or lose interest, the superconscious sends you visions of "figures, from which i have a vivid recollection of their appearence" to breake the monotony!
Cheers Wolfjk

I think I follow what you're saying. But what exactly is one becoming 'bored' with?--Life?--And is this boredom strong enough for a person's mind to sling images at them to keep them satisfied, or entertained?--as you are suggesting.

Hi,
Look at your day from morning till night! You do different things, you think about different things, your mind wanders, your field of vision constantly changes, the light changes, the temperature changes, so you are programmed to constantly adapt to the changes. Apart from the physical side of life; burning calories and maintaning the energy level, There is also the quantum nature. We need light, heat, art, ideas, emotions and many other things - too numerous to name - that supply us with quantum energy essential to life. Dreaming is one of the most mysterious supplier of quantum enery.
Boredom is doing the same or similar things all the time. You may not be aware of what you do to avoid boredom and falling asleep untill you si down on a molehill and contemplate your life!
Cheers Wolfjk

I would argue that contemplaton is a result of being completely enthralled by one's own Life and the world around them, not bored with it.

Contemplation is very much a sign that one is alive and enthusiastic about living, would you agree?

One can be infused with genuine interest of the world and their individul life and still have visions. I don't believe the subconscious plays a role in matters such as this. These are the things unexplainable to man.
