I don't really get this dream

Me, my cousin Matthew and his friend MaryAnna are in Mr O'Keefe's room just to talk. Diu and his friend who is either Asian or Indian comes in to work on their ESL English 2 homework. An Asian girl comes in and we ask her what's her name and she says Erica and I told her that is my favorite female name and Diu said that name will make me gay. Then I chased his friend around because he wouldn't give me the stapler. After school I went to Diu's house. It was friday. I went to sleep on his bed. He had his shirt off and I was wearing my PJ's. Then on saturday morning, we woke up screaming because we were naked and his mom drove me home and I had to wear her long jacket. Then I called Diu to say my sorry and he accpet it and we became boyfriend and girlfriend. I don't understand this

In most of the dreams that I look at, the people in the dreams do not represent real people. Instead, they are symbols of archetypes from the collective unconscious (per Jung). In this dream, I believe that these people are symbols. They are creations of the unconscious.

It sounds like Mr. O’Keefe is a teacher and his room is a classroom. Being in school can be a good sign. It is the school of life. Doing well in this school is typically a reflection of how well a person is learning the lessons of life. Doing well in the dream school is a sign of spiritual and psychological growth.

Still using the ideas of Jung, it sounds like Matthew and MaryAnna are symbols of syzygy. (Say what?) Syzygy is sometimes called the Royal Couple, the Sacred Union etc. They are the joining of opposites -- almost always a good sign in a dream.

Diu is probably a symbol of your animus (assuming that you are female). The animus is always male and is only found in the dreams of women. He has the potential for going through four stages of development. This animus seems to be at the second stage of development (where he is your boyfriend). The other common archetype is the shadow. The shadow is always the same sex as the dreamer. There are basically two types of shadows. One is positive and one is negative. Erica is almost certainly a symbol of the dreamer’s shadow. Often the names of dream people can be important. This is especially true when it is someone that the dreamer does not know in real life. The name Erica is also a genus of heaths or heathers (Erica - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ).

From her name, she sounds like she has a strong personality. Her being an Asian girl is surprising (to me – Erica does not sound particularly Asian). Diu said that her name would make the dreamer gay. I’m a little unsure what to make of this.

You wrote that you “chased his friend around because he wouldn't give [you] … the stapler.” A stapler is used to join things. Therefore, some of your archetypes do not want a joining. Conflicts and jealousy between different dream people is fairly common in many of the dreams that I look at.

There is a shift in the dream and it is Friday -- after school. The implication seems to be that you are ready to apply your school lessons. Besides being the end of the school week, the day Friday may have a special meaning. The day Friday is usually associated with the goddesses Freyja and Frigg as well as the goddess Venus (Aphrodite). All three are associated with love and romance.

While you were at Diu’s house, you two went to bed together. This may sound terrible but is the kind of relationship that woman might have with a romantic animus.

But, when Saturday morning came, both of you woke up screaming because you two were naked. Being caught naked in a dream must have been very disturbing. But, as we know, the dream world is often different from the real world. In our dreams, wearing very little, or any clothing, is a sign that the real person is being seen. This is because the clothes that we wear hide who we really are. In this dream, it looks like you and your animus took a close look at each other.

If Friday has a meaning, then perhaps Saturday has one also. The name Saturday is derived from the name of the god Saturn. He is the god of agriculture and is the father of the Jupiter and the other Roman gods. Cronus is his Greek equivalent. OK – what is so important about Saturday? I’m not too sure. It might have something to do with Saturn’s being the father of the gods. That is, your father archetype, symbolized by Saturn, does not want you and your animus to know each other better.

Sometimes the shadow and the animus, as well as other dream people, will seem to be enemies of the dreamer. And, sometimes, they seem to hate each other. But, they don’t want to be bad. They want to be your helpers and your best friends.

You have already taken a big step towards having good relationships with these dream people. You are listening to your dreams and are trying to understand what they mean. The one thing that you do not want to do is to ignore them. When this is done, they can sulk, they can go a little crazy or they can even become violent.
