I've always had very intense dreams, and nightmares of a terrible sort since I was very small.
Dreams of hell and demons, apocolypse, death, wastelands, and even being branded on the foot, but always zombies. Zombies have been tormenting me since I was 6. I learned to live with it, as it becomes familiar it becomes the way things are. It came to pass that a normal dream was exceptional and well remembered amongst the horde set before me on a regular basis. So I found this site, and recieved wonderful assistance with the interpretation of a dream, and started doing my own research. It has been fascinating reading. As I am doing this I realize that I haven't had a zombie dream in over 3 weeks....that's exceptionaly bizzare. I am not sure, but I doubt that they will return. Because of the interpretation I recieved, I came to the profound realization that my subconcious was TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING. NOT torture me. Since then my dreams have been no less bizzare but of a much gentler nature. The structure of communication is different and more equal, the landscape itself is generaly more favorable. So what, then, is this childhood perception that has brought upon my sleeping mind such daily terror? I am uncertain... But I did SOMETHING, and now it's all different. There are corresponding changes in my waking life that reflect this growth. I don't, however, think these demonic images were anything to do with actual demons. Unless you can use the term to represent the ones you shoulder as a function of living. I think they represent some horror (in my case, anyway) I've supressed consciously or no, and not ever been able to really come to terms with. This comes as a HUGE relief, because there were any number of times I might have been absolutely convinced that I was slated for a special pit in hell. I think it was a huge mistake to make the association between demonic imagery in dreams with actual demonic activity, I was never able to satisfactorily banish them until I accepted them as a function of my own hurt. A message writ bold of pain and isolation. Your thoughts? |

Were they terrifying nightmares or were they harmless?
Hmmm that's interesting,you know what's crazy is when you apply your mind and focus it can have wondrous affects. Have you had a dream journal ? I kept on forgetting my dreams but simply having the journal and writing them down helped my mind remember... I watched a lot of crazy horror movies as a kid and I never had any nightmares that involved zombies......... Until around when i was 16 i had a nightmare/romance dream thing that zombies were attacking me,and I ended up making out with one.. The one zombie was an actor zombie in a suit,while the rest of the zombies were behind him just watching us make out... pretty weird huh lol ? ![]() |

Searching through the members list I noticed a member who became a member on my birthdate this year and clicked on his/her alias. From that I am lead to your entry, and here's why that's surprising. In my childhood I would have dreams of something coming after me that I was so scared of I won't even look at it. If I did accidently look at it I would wake up shaking and not remember what it looked like, like my mind couldn't handle the image and blocked it. This continued and as a kid a started trying to handle my dreams, to deal with them through some sort of discipline. I would repeatedly tell myself that I was about to go to sleep and dream and that it was only a dream. Then that it was my dream, MY DREAM, therefore I controlled it. It started working until at around maybe 10 or 11 I reached a point where I was no longer going to just stand back in my dreams and allow this whatever to rule. As most, the thing was coming mostly from my closet in my dreams. So around this time of my childhood I confronted the thing in my dream. I jerked open the closet door and ran inside the darkness swinging and kicking. I woke up from that dream feeling liberated and the dreams changed after that. Sure I have nightmares but not every damn night like back then. The point of all this is I have never heard of anyone else having this type of constant nightmares and mentally fighting to overcome it and I am glad to hear you have being I have also experienced like dreams/nightmares. Why I had this nightmares? Who knows, but from the experience of learning to deal with them I now can take control of most of my dreams and change bad ones into good ones. I hope you can to and nice to see I wasn't alone with those types of dreams. Hope this makes some sense!

I'm very excited about the prospects of this new avenue of thinking and always glad to know I'm not alone in things. I was wrong, of course, about the zombies never returning. They were back just last night, but the relationship is most definitely changed and I am in control much more than previously. But not lucidly. I do not have the ability to change my environment or situation. But my dream self does know it's in a dream. I frequently have thoughts such as;
'Oh crap, more zombies...here we go again' 'Here comes the fiend, time for some running' 'That's incredibly detailed, I'll remember that for sure' and so on. I have never quite gotten to the point where I can change it. |

Well the dreams can feature zombies... but have you ever thought. This recent dream maybe was a dream ABOUT YOUR ZOMBIE dreams. You feel better because you have dealt with the issue in your head.
------------------------ In order to understand dreams you need to understand neural networks. Neural networks are how the brain stores important information. The dream mind connects to something happening in your life by comparing it to something esle that has previously happened. Inreal life you may feel tired. So a dream connects to that event by comparing it to an event where you felt the same sensations. So your dream mind is saying "I felt as tired as I did when I was moving house".
