Default Vivid dreams and Moon phases

i am in the navy and i was out to sea on deployment a few years back and i started to study dreams and lucid dreams. i had read on the internet the day before and read that there may be a link with crime and the full moon. so i thought it would be intresting to find out if on a full moon, at the most gravitational pull, could be a trigger for vivid dreams, and the ability for lucid dreaming. however, i was in a different part of the world. what i found was quite intresting.

what i did was got onto NASA's website and downloaded the current moon phases for the month. and for 2 months, i recorded my dreams, and found that a few days into the making of the last quarter was when my dreams were the most vivid and most remembered.

has there been any professional reports or studies on this? has anyone else expierenced the same thing? does the different moon phases affect different people? or is it somewhat the same accross the board....

Hi,
Itis the light that effects the dreams! When a full moon shines through a window the subconscious responds to it with a dream. the moon coming to shine through the window often wakes the sleeper, or rather induces a dream that waks him! It is natural. It follows then that there is more crime during the full moon! It also wakes the criminals
Cheers Wolfjk

i dont fully agree. remember, i am on a naval ship. there are no windows. it is completly dark in our quarters.

and as far as the criminal thing, i can think of several reasons why not only criminal, but why the night life is more active during a full moon. one being more light so there is less sight fatigue.

Hi Apox,
Thanks for your reply. I speak from my own experience. many times when the moon shines through the curtains my dreams wake me up, lo and and behold there is a big silver moon! You dont know what you're missing!
Cheers Wolfjk

Hi Apox,
I hav'nt heard of the moon's gravity and magnetic field effecting dreams. It is a case of out of sight -out of mind!. However quantum energy - that is light, heat concepts do have an effect on dreams.
Cheers Wolfjk

Hey apox, I noticed my most important and prophetic dreams that relate to my own life and that contain very good advice and things of this nature, occur a day or so before the full moon, or on the full moon night or day. I have had other interesting dreams in the last quarter, but most prophetic dreams for me occur close to the full moon phase. Interesting study you are doing.

i have found that information on a website somewhere and that was what made me intrested in it in the first place. do you feel like Wolfjk, and believe it is due to the moon light, or what are your thoughts?

Like you, Mac, I have vivid and memorable dreams during the Full Moon phase, but they're usually not good (there are some remarkable exceptions).

I've been observing and taking notes of my dreams for more than twenty years and, as you must remember from my answer to another question of yours about dreams, I dream in color and remember several dreams per night, even when I don't sleep well or much.

What happens to me is that, during the Full Moon phase, all my senses are sharper and my feelings are more intense, for good or for ill.

I rarely sleep much and, lately, not very well, most of the time. But I've noticed that the Full Moon nights are the worst for me to sleep and frequently, I have at least one agitated or disturbing dream at these nights.

Where I live, in Southeast Brazil, we have hot weather for many months a year, and I like to sleep with my bedroom's window open, whenever it's possible. But, during the Full Moon, I always close the window, because the Moonlight and whatever other vibes that come from the Moon make my dreams even more agitated.

This is an intriguing question, made me think and read back some of my notes about my dreams. Thank you for asking! Hope you had (and continue to have) a good night and sweet dreams!

P.S. I realized I forgot to tell you about my dreams when it's New Moon. I never felt any special difference in my dreams during the New Moon phase, as well as the rest of the month. They can be better or worse, depending on how I feel, if I'm happy or not, how was my day, how is my health, but nothing that I can relate directly to the Moon. The Full Moon nights are the ones that greatly affect both my sleeping and my dreams.
