Default Can You Tell If you have ADD or ADHD

I'm kind of curious about that topic. I'm 14 and I'm really energetic. During class, I would start to look around and stare at random things. I would always be doing some thing like, tap my fingers on my desk. Star to check my fingernails for no reason, even though I checked it 2 seconds ago. I'm get jittery and such. Also I can't focus on something that is REALLY easy to focus on. I try to, but I can't. Is that Normal, or is that ADD/ADHD related?

Hi,

As a teacher, I feel that you need to discuss this with your parents. If they think that it needs to be pursued then you need to see your family doctor. Then if he or she agrees, then your teachers for the upcoming school year need to be contacted so that they know what your diagnosis is and what strategies they can use to help make your school year a successful one. If you would have one, I'd say ADD. Good luck, but talk to your parents first.

It sounds more like boredom and the desire to escape from the constraints of the classroom. With ADD or ADHD there is an inablity to focus on anything for more than a few seconds which does not seem related to your problem. There are indications that a diet high in carbohydrates can cause restlessness or tiredness so you may wish to look closely at what you eat and/or drink.
