I went to a nutrionalist and life coach recently who set me up with a personal trainer and showed me how to eat easy and healthily wen ur in a rush so u dnt pick up rubbish food. It is quite difficult at first but it beats a diet! Diets dont work as they make ur body used to one way of eating and then wen u eat normally again ur body dubles the weight on faster then it usually would.

My personal trainer said that the best way to lose weight is: Eat a healthy balanced diet (obviously) and you can have sweets in moderation. Also, do 60 minutes of continuous cardiovascular excercise, even if u go for an hours walk or bike ride, as this will burn off more fat. If its stomach fat then sit ups rnt the answer as they tone as appose to burning the fat in the right places.

Ive been doing this 60 minutes a day on a cross trainer/gym bike or whatever else and ive done it for about 2 weeks ive lost an awful lot of weight just by this and changing my diet and i feel great as appose to dull like a diet makes u feel groggy. Even tho it isnt as quick fix as a diet its better in the long run and you just have to member that u wont see results straight away but you will look great if u keep it up!

hi, i have a horrible e.d. this topic got my attention so i decided to post my 2 cents too.
dont diet at all, find some other way to deal with anxiety, thats one reason people like us over eat. another poster also said it here: dieting does not work.
dont pay attention to tv or advertisements, they are made for mediocre consumers. people on TV arent like everybody else!
when you eat for pleasure, dose your food right, and dont repeat! finish off that candy and go do something else with that anxiety! man this is the trickiest for me, that's when I play some crazy dialogue in my head and I lose it to the cravings! oh noooo!

Hi,

I have successfully kept my weight under control for almost a year now, before that I was up and down, actually over a period of six months I lost almost 40 pounds. I learned what was causing my weight gain, both a combo of starchs, breads, and sweets. I also learned how to eat only between 1200-1500 calories which women should focus on, and no more unless you are an athlete, which I am not. Don't listen to anyone who says you need 2000 calories or any where near that. I do want to say i am a healthy weight for my body size. One thing that is important for weight loss is minimize starches, including potatoes, rice, breads mainly white and yeast breads, and pastas. Instead have your main portion of meals be foods that contain good for you fats as they actually help curb hunger, protein, and high fiber foods (whole grains and vegetables including yams and any thing dark in color as they have the most nutrients). Also, minimize dairy and try soy milk its high in protein and will curb hunger especially in the morning with cereal. Grains and starches should be a small percent of your diet, I believe the food pyramid is wrong in telling people you need 6-11 servings, more like 3 servings, it made me fat and unhealthy. Try using flat bread instead of regular bread, and meat is good because the human body needs animal protein and animal fat is used as energy but when eaten in small portions. Of course portion control. Three meals a day and avoid snacking, after a month or two you won't want a snack, except fruit. Exercise- cardio and weight training (high rep sets are the best) but you need to do cardio for at least 30 minutes, this is not for weight loss the diet works for that but to make you all around healthy. Today, I can't eat too much bread or it makes me sick and I do not crave potatoes or starchy foods. Well cheese is good, it contains protein and fat and you don't need to give up foods, just eat special treats on occasion. It's also a good idea to read labels, I don't eat any food that contains high fructose corn syrup or any unnatural ingredient that may be harmful to my health that actually puts you off eating junk and turn to healthy organic nutritious foods. Hope that helps, it really works, and you will never be hungry again or crave bad foods. Just remember to eat a good breakfast of fiber and protein. Good Luck!

So I am going to share a life experience with you but, before I do that I want to share a book I am reading called " Are you Ready" by Bob Harper his a proffesional trainer from a show called the biggest looser.
I am very selective on the things I read I am not a person that just picks up diet books or aerobics videos I have allways believe that in order to loose the weight you have to be determine. threw my whole 30 something years the most weight I lost was about 30lbs but, I gain it all back and it had to do with dieting and I am going to tell you why the diets didnt work no 1 I allways had a thyroid problem no 2 everytime I lost weight my emotion focus was the wrong ones (my state of mind). My mentality was a walking time bomb. So after so long i realized in order to loose the weight you have to be fully focus and thats exactly what the books says and you have to be determine to loose weight for life and beleive it or not i workout 3 times a week for 30min still eat whatever I want and so far Ive lost 11 pound in 2 weeks. Another thing about loosing weight. I believe you have to be determine to be content of how slow or how fast you want to loose weight. Even though I allways focus my loosing the weight for health purposes do it for a change of life style and do it because you love yourself enough to live longer and healthier.
Be determine and be willing to fight the obstacles to whatever holds you back
Good Luck!!!

Sorry I'm in a little late. Hopefully you are making progress on reaching your goals. I too am fighting this battle, I have before but found excuses to put the weight back on.

Diets are a bad idea. They tend to be "Fads" and only serve as a temporary fix because once you get off of your diet you gain the weight back. You need to find a healthy eating lifestyle and make good choices. I hear a lot about eat whatever you want and still lose weight, but I don't agree with that. The way I get through is knowing that if I can eat clean for 5 days, no soda, sweets, or other bad temptations, then I can let loose a little on the other 2 days. I don't try and cheat in the middle of the 5 days though because then that puts you right back at square one. And when I say let loose I don't mean gorge yourself and go over board, still try and be healthy but eat a little of what you want. It sucks for about the first 2-3 weeks (my eating choices have always been my biggest hurdle).

The second as someone else stated is not only 30-45 minutes of cardio but also weight training. Many women fall into this trap thinking that if you do only cardio you will lose weight but it is a myth. You will lose muscle also but retain the fat as a quick energy source when needed.

When you work out or need a quick burst of energy you burn your carbohydrates first, then after they are gone you break into your fat stores for energy. When I work, 3 days a week I do weight training followed by 20 minutes of cardio. You weight training will usually burn most of your carbohydrates and the cardio then breaks into your fat stores. On the other 2 days I go and do 30-45 minutes of cardio. When doing cardio you need to be between 60-70% of your maximum heart rate (an easy way to figure this is 220 minus your age). That is the fat burn zone. Anything above that and you are strengthening your lungs and heart won't hit the right target zone to work that fat off.

Don't forget to change your program every 3-4 weeks, you body will get used to a certain work out and you may be making great gains in your goals and then you will plateau. You have to shock your body. You can do this by changing the number of repetitions you do or changing what you work out with (machines versus dumbbells or barbells).

Finally you have to have the right mind set that this is what you want and nothing is going to stop you from reaching your goal! It is very easy to come up with excuses and find reasons not to go to the gym or work out. You have to be able to mentally get past this and MAKE yourself go. Don't go in to it thinking you are going to go to the gym 5 days a week and get a great work out every day because you are setting yourself up for failure. Set a 30 day goal, like you will go to the gym 3 days a week. After you accomplish that in 30 days it will be easier for you to go back and you will then want to go back so you can exceed your goals! Also don't expect to see real results until after about 3 months. I wanted to see results now and would get discouraged but I continued to go knowing that I was working hard in the gym and pushing myself. Finally I have seen results. I have lowered my body fat 8% and lost 9 lbs on the scale for a 21 pound loss of body fat in 3 months.

Good luck and stay strong!

Making little changes can make a big difference. Like drink more water, that in fact can reduce water weight. Cut back on sodas and alcoholic drinks, sometimes people don't realize how much of these things they drink in a day so when you switch them out for juice, milk or water your calorie intake decreases dramatically. Regulating bowel movements helps, try activia yogurt. Anti-oxidants also helps people loose weight but if you don't like drinking green tea you can try taking acai berry supplements, you can find them at any Walgreens. Don't forget to get in a little exercise, like walking for an hour a day if you have a dog take him with you. I personally like to hula hoop at least 20 min a day, its fun and it keeps my stomach flat.
-I''m not a doctor or a nutritionist but believe me I do all these things and they do help. Just remember to stay consistent.

To be honest, you're doing the best thing for yourself by exercising and cutting back on your calories, but remember you need 1,000-2,000 per day.

You have to eat to burn calories.
You won't have anything to fuel your metabolism if you don't eat right.

You can take whey protein, adding it into a smoothie of lowfat vanilla icecream, 1% milk, and fruit twice a day ---

Protein boosts your metabolism.
& helps to build muscle mass.

I would not recommend any diet pills to you --
My sister became a workout freak and takes so many pills to keep the weight off, and took a good bit while she was trying to lose the weight --
She now has heart problems; a common side effect of diet pill use.

I'd stay away from them.
There's only a handful that are actually FDA approved.

Alli is a pill that's approved by the FDA -- you can find it in your local grocery store.
