i don't know how many of you believe in God or in which way you worship Him, but i know that during youth, when we played music and sang, his presence was very warm, very welcoming and safe and it was a very joyous atmosphere.
now our pastor had an idea in which he would try to unite us with other churches. sounded alright, until the church we were invited to began to do some wierd things and paraded their gift of tongues around infront of us to separate themselves from us. the atmosphere was anything but safe, warm and welcoming, it was very satanic to say the least. i dont know how many of you have heard about or witnessed the "Toronto Blessing" or Benny Hinn, but it's not pleasant at all. the pastor at this church was doing "mass healings" and trying to push some kind of spirits into us which i thought was rediculous, also very terrifying because only a few of us knew that something was wrong, and ever since that night i've been having dreams where i find myself floating on my back in the air, maybe a metre off the ground, i don't feel light, and my whole body tingles; like "pins and needles." in the midst of this i can hear groaning as if it's right behind me in my ear, just a constant groan and sometimes it gets louder and more vicious and then at times it goes completely silent, and i can hear floor boards creaking. i become very scared because i'm not high enough off the ground to be protected. the hair on the back of my neck stands up and it feels as if someone or something is breathing on me. i can see my hands and my wrists, i can see my chest, but i cant see my legs. i feel compelled to touch my legs, in a seductive way and it's not by choice. i'm paralyzed in mid air and i'm at the mercy of whatever this thing is. i'll admit that during that so-called service i cried because some of my own mates didn't feel that anything was wrong, and i didn't do anything to stop it.i was pissed off to say the least. and our own pastor has been absent ever since he recieved the Toronto Blessing, apparently he's become very depressed. i read that when a spirit not of God has failed in entering your body you become depressed or you cry. well, i cried, and i lost 7 hours of sleep over it deciding what i should do about it. so that i'm working on...i'm just worried that it had a permanent effect on me because these dreams are relentless. i know what God feels like and i'm bloody well stickin to it. i didn't ever believe in this crap i can't get over how intrusive it was and how they tried to force religion on people. too bad for the ones who didn't believe in God and now think we're all a bunch of power hungry, jibberish speaking maniacs. if anyone's had similar experiences or had dreams similar to mine then please offer some feedback. |

Hi,
As you can see there are many different religions practiced on this planet and there are far too many Gods about! I am sorry to hear you encountered a more powerful one than yours! However I believe you are too easily influenced by the preachers - the louder they speak the more you belive in them! However your dreams are not about religion but the way you sleep. By your description you are lying on your back back when these floating dreams happen! Quote:

thanks for the feedback wolfjk,
when i wake from these dreams i'm on my side, so unless i randomly jerked my body into a different position... also, my beliefs entail that there is only one God, the holy spirit, jesus christ and so on, although there my be thousands of different religions i am in no way influenced by them. i'm extremely stead-fast in what i believe in, it's taken me years to get here but that's how it is now. the only emotion that place influenced on me was concern, doubt and anger. because they tried to force there ways on people. could extreme emotions have anything to do with this kind of intimidating dream? |

It is good to have strong faith. Itautomaticly confers an advantage onto you over people who have non! However the best faith to have is a faith in yourself! You make yourself responsible for your own actions towards the rest of humanity! If one does not believe in superior power who can forgive ones sins and crimes against hi or her fellow humans and other creatures perhaps less crime would be committed. Regarding dreams; the subconscious decide how to respond to events that occur in sleep. As you can gather in an 8 hour sleep many things may come to pass. Many negative and positive thoughts come and go - more negative ones during stress! Many physical events that happen in sleep need to be responded by dreams. However most dreams happen at the level of consciousness that is outside the scope of the brain to comprehend. In sleep you can move and do things without realising that you done it! An interested observer or nowadays CCTV gives a more accurate picture of what happens during sleep. So you probably wake up in a different sleeping position from the one caused the dream, since the dream was created to move you out of the discomfort!

Courage, You are an amazingly contradictory character. You describe yourself in your profile as being 'down to earth' 'insightful' 'beer drinker' with interests in shooting and hunting, and are a serving soldier, then you claim to be a Christian; are you unable to see those inconsistencies? You pose a question which places others on the spot. If you desire to believe in religion then this is your responsibility and those of us who are anti-religious are consistently bombarded by those who are believers when some of us find it a tad tedious. There are few who do not admit to the creative power of nature but to then construct religious dogma around it is moving into the arena of fantasy and ominously into politics. How nice it would be to see the world without this dogma. Your belief in religion manifestly stems from your indoctrination during early infancy; if you choose to believe it then you will continue to suffer in the manner you do; it is your frame of mind and your strong religious views that causes your discomfort.
What you seem to be experiencing in your sleep could be connected to sleep paralysis so try Googling for the information which might help you to understand. |

Courage,
First of all those who have spent time studying the Christian religion would not be quick to say that being " 'down to earth' 'insightful' 'beer drinker' with interests in shooting and hunting, and a serving soldier,' " puts you at odds with the Christian religion. Christ drank, and told the Roman soldier to not abuse their power, but never to stop being soldiers. Second of all what you are referring to does indeed sound like sleep paralysis, but there is no evidence to suggest that the position you sleep in causes it. No one is sure what causes it. Some say it is just your mind waking before your body, while others say that it is a stage right before astral travel. It sounds to me like one of the many accounts of what is known as "shadowmen" try doing a google search on it and see if anything sounds familiar. As for having faith in only yourself, remember everyone believes in a god, it's just that some like to try to take the role on for themselves. I'm sure this reply will make me less than popular, but hey, truth is truth. |

Khraal, you appear to be suggesting that others have failed to read the bible (which you call study) but stop deluding yourself and attempting to place yourself in some divine position. If you choose to believe puerile fiction and fail to see that you have been indoctrinated then you are a fool and once again, bleatings about a married virgin being inseminated by an arch angel womaniser called Gabriel are, indeed, tedious. Try to address the thread and avoid making implications about what others have said.

that's some interesting feedback.
when i first came here i was not interested in God at all, i wasn't in the best of places. times have definately changed for me, although there's no point explaining that as it's irrelevant and nobody ever gets it. i have a problem with people thinking that, being Chrisitian, i'm not allowed to have a few beers or shoot my rifle and being a soldier does not mean i condone violence and terrorism. there are those of us who believe that there's still good in this bloody world and if it means fighting to free people from oppression then we gotta do it. and "shadowmen"? ah...i don't have evil voices in my head calling me "evil minion servant." that's laughable, where the hell did that come from... in keeping a broad perspective, i HAVE struggled between being a certain way, which i've decided i'm not comfortable with. being a soldier doesn't make us anti-religious, nor religious, whichever way you want to look at it, and even though i dont "study the bible" (because if you think for yourself for a moment, that most of it is stories and translations from a people who weren't as technologically advanced as us today, therefore their understanding may be slightly differed) i know the difference between hurting people and helping people. forcing religion on people is an attempt at making them conform to what YOU think is right, and according to the bible, we aren't supposed to comform?? (i heard that from like...church or something...you know, where the "believers" go) i love shooting my rifle, i'm only talking about target practise, wooden or paper, it's more of a hobby. and drinking? i dont go out, get pissed and sleep around, THAT would be SO UNCHRISTIAN of me wouldnt it??? sounds like, having faith that God will take care of me isnt enough, i gotta give up havin my mates around for a bbq in fear that we might have a beer and be called "unchristian." i cant be a soldier because there's a commandment that states we arent allowed to kill. i think it's talking about murder. i would never kill an unarmed man, nor shoot him in the back after i've let him go. to go to war means to free people from oppression doesn't it? according to teh bible? didn't God go to war for many similar reasons? isn't it looked highly upon to give your life for somebody else? ya know i just somehow, assumed that saving people was an honourable action and not UNCHRISTIAN in the least. maybe, like myself, we should think before we post about dreams because obviously this one was rediculous. looking back i shouldn't have posted on such a public forum, or brought it up at all. just more stupid religious theories which i've decided not to bother with. i agree with jennings and many others, that some things in the bible sound rediculous and whether you are someone who believes it or not, you aren't any better than the next person. but i believe in God, not because of an upbringing, ( i was never for it growing up) and not because of unsolicitored preachers or because of some words in the bible, but because the belief in Him brought hope and peace of mind to me. i apologize if i came across hypocritically, it wasn't my intention, people seem to have a conventional standpoint in what is "good" and what is "bad." SO, kraal, jennings, maybe to some i'm not christian at all, but we dont have to belong to any religion to be believe in a better way. perhaps being religious, people also need to question things and think for yourselves and not believe what people tell you is acceptable and what isnt. you should all know without being told. i wouldn't mind more feedback if you so desire another turn. |

i am a pentecostal christian, and u no what im a spirit filled tongue speaking christian, in regards to u bagging out people speaking in tongues, did u no that speaking in tongues is a direct line to God himself, and satan cannot understand the words, speaking in tongues allowes us to say the inner things that we cannot not get across, so next time u wanna bag out speaking in tongues why dont u get your facts straight, oh and also that tingy floating feeling is not the works of satan it called the Holy Spirit! n thats what it feels like to be filled with it, but obivously you know nothing about either!
