Default Exhausted

I'm exhausted from dreaming! I searched the internet for help this morning because my dreams are wearing me out. I am technically "asleep" for at least 7-8 hours most nights but I wake up emotionally drawn and physically worn out.

I appreciate that dreams are important and that I should spend time working with them but at the moment all I want is a good night's sleep!

Take for instance last night. I woke from one dream in which I was fired (from a job that isn't the job I'm in). I am having difficulties at work (considering resignation) but certainly not in a way that I am going to get fired. So it was rather stressful waking up after reading the list of reasons why I was fired.

My next dream involved my boyfriend who was asleep next to me (in the waking world). I had a dream that I had cheated on him and was feeling horrible about this. I woke up and my heart hurt and it took me some time to realise that I hadn't actually cheated on him. I haven't had any thoughts about cheating on him or been in any compromising situations or anything. In fact, we were at a wedding on the weekend and I had been thinking that I would be thrilled if he asked me to marry him!

Almost every other night I have dreams that leave me exhausted in the morning. They affect me emotionally and make it difficult for me to get into my working day. Everyone in my life has always teased me about how I'm not a morning person. It frustrates me becasue I love the mornings and on days when I wake up peacefully I am the happiest early in the morning. It's just that more often than not I have had some stressful dream that is weighing on my mind.

This site has given me some comfort in knowing that there are plenty of other people that dream as vividly as I do. I have never had any friends, family or colleagues that dream like I do. Often I have to think hard about whether something happened or whether it was a dream. Exhausting!

Default Dreams: good or bad?

Hi,
Dreams control your life while you sleep and you should think dreams are as important as breathing or blood circulation. If you have vivid dreams and you feel exhausted in the morning, you have to look for a reason other than your dreams! Every dream be it everso bad tries to help you.

You must admit that you are agonising about your present job; that impacts on your dream. Your subconscious tries to take your mind of it by giving a different story line.
Dreaming of cheating on your boyfriend while you sleeping next to him is quite normal. You do get aroused in your sleep and it is up to your dreams to lay down the scenario. However you also have to wake up in the morning and the waking element in the dream was to leave you with the pangs of consciense. Even that has the function of taking your mind off some other problems.
I think you are a natural worrier and mountains out of the molehills of your problems.
Relax and you will have better dreams.
Cheers Wolfjk

I agree with the Wolf - I am also somebody who makes mountains out of mole hills and often found myself feeling terribly tired from 'dreaming' all night long. I do yoga and read a book of little meditations before I go to sleep. I have had to make quite the ritual of getting ready for bed starting about an hour before I wish to fall asleep. Not that I had trouble falling asleep - just that I always had way too much on my mind and I think that barreled over into the dream world for me.
I have to say I have been sleeping better - not really dreaming less though. Hopefully this helps

You are angry. Your dream is suggesting that something is frustrating you but only you might know what this is. Your dreaming, your exhaustion, and work problems, are symptoms of this lack of satisfaction. You may think that what I am about to say next is odd, but, you sound as if you might be suffering from a food allergy and it takes a bit of detection work to discover what item causes this. Once the culprit has been eliminated you will feel comfortable about yourself and with those with whom you come into contact and you will rediscover your happiness and no longer feel so angry to make you want to feel unfaithful to your partner (in your dreaming, of course).
