Smile What part of dreaming interests you?

Wondering what draws people to this site. Are you interested in dreams as a part of knowing yourself, do you like the psychology of dreams, the analysis or the symbolism?
What is it for you that you are attracted to?

Hi Imogen
I would have to say all your points draw me here, this is not the only site that I work with, and I enjoy seeing how different people draw such different conclusions from the same dream. I would definately enjoy it more if people who post their dreams would post a reply after receiving an analysis. Most of us would like to know if we were correct or so far of the mark that it didn't apply to them at all.

Wink Oh Yes

Yes, I totally agree with you, it would be really nice to get feedback about how understanding the dream has or hasnt made a difference!! When we post an analysis theres always a certain amount of curiosity on whether or not it has helped.
What about the rest of you that are here?

Default Hello Imogen

I'm here because I think there is more to dreaming than meets the eye. Being a lucid dreamer, I’ve had some really weird stuff happen to me in my sleep. I came to this website because I overcame quite a lot of fear by facing it head on in my dream. I was hoping that I may be able to help other people to face their fears and overcome them. If you keep facing them and not run away, gradually the bad dreams have no hold on you. I think it really helps to do this if you can become lucid in your sleep.

I think dreams show our fears to us, and it’s the fearful ones we can learn from. Good dreams are nice to have, but apart from having a jolly good time, what could I learn about from a dream where Johny Depp is my boyfriend?

In dreams, the only thing you need to fear is fear itself. Nightmares feed off your fear. I was hoping that just maybe I could help someone realise this in their sleep.

Good question.

I just want to know what people's interpretation of their dreams are. It is fun reading about people's dream and I hope some day I will gain enough insight to interpret own dream. :-)

Default hi :)

Hi there
I used to dream from time to time and just remember my most interesting and wierd dreams. However, from about more than a year now I've been dreaming almost every night. I've been having some pretty interesting experiences and thanks to this site and all the people posting here, I was able to "read" clearly a few of my dreams and see how they soon turned into reality.
So thank you people
Dream symbolism and most of all psychology tangled in dreams is what interests me most. There are still many unanswered questions... hope I find the answers, hope the same for you

Hi Imogen,
I've been on this forum for about 5 years. This is the forum with the biggest turn over of natural dreams. I write some interpretations and it is nice if I get a reply, however I am always aware that my interpretation is not to every ones taste. My main aim is to study dreams in the row - natural dreams that are not the result of attempts at lucid dreaming, incubation or dream journals.
I also have experience of watching a lot of people sleep and dream in various stress situations (wartime, shared dormitories, refugee camps and peace time - sleeping at ease and in comfort.
I am afraid symbolism and psychology dissapear when you watch people dream. Outside and internal influences intrude on sleep and our dreams are the masters and guardians of our life while we sleep. Dreaming is not yet given the importance it deserves.
Cheers Wolfjk

Hello Imogen...

I have always been fascinated by dreams. As a child I started having some really interesting dreams with symbols and objects in them that I did not understand until I grew older. I can still remember many of the dreams I had when I was 4 or 5 years of age. I also grew fascinated by patterns I saw in these dreams and of a certain person who kept appearing in my dreams (although I do not know this person nor have ever met anyone that has ever looked like this person). I love foreign countries, yet I do not have the money to travel. In my dreams I have gone to places I have never been to; Egypt, China, Greece...etc. I can speak and understand languages I cannot speak or understand when awake. I love the symbolisms in dreams. I am so fascinated with people's dreams and my own dreams because although I believe that many dreams can be the result of anxieties, frustrations or fears that we are having in waking life, I know that a portion of dreams are either prophetic or that they contain tools needed to teach us how to overcome obstacles. I truly believe dreams are more then just the random firing of neurons or a biological exercise. To me...dreams are spiritual.

Lightbulb WoW

Really awesome and facinating answers and such differences!! I love the fact that everyone has their own interpretation. Its as if dreams are this whole undiscovered world. and its also really nice to get an idea of where everyone is coming from, it should make for some very interesting and diverse interpretations.

well I was drawn to dreams because of premonitions. But now I am really more interested in the symbolism and psychology of dreams

------------------------
There are no hard and fast rules to symbolism in dreams. Some dreams

use symbols which are absolutely textbook. A bird may symbolise a bad

omen. A tree may symbolise a family tree. Many simple symbolic meanings

maybe totally correct. Yet do not expect symbolic meanings to repeat.

If a soldier symbolises the need for discipline in one dream it may

have a totally different meaning in another. Added to this symbols may

have very personal meanings. Here you can use the method of free

associations and try to see what links to any symbol in the dream.

Simply think back to everything in your current mindset and see what

connections you can make. Even simple connections can mean lots. Say if

a set of traffic lights appear in your dream it may link to some

incident that happened at a traffic lights the previous day. Always

remember that your dream mind does not feel it necessary to translate

its message to you. The need to understand the language of a dream is

not strictly necessary to you. Its like a telephone. You can benefit

from it without needing to know the way in which the microprocessor and

communications work. But nevertheless we feel the need to study and

understand dreams.

These pages are especially helpful in showing you how to interpret

dreams
