| General Chit-Chat Kind of like a lounge, just come in and talk about anything at all. Relax, this is like the water cooler at the office. |

what do you call a dream that you could swear you are awake...last night i could have sworn my eyes were open and i was looking at a man standing over my bed....now i am a single female that lives alone, but with two large dogs that were both sound asleep...until my screaming woke them up. it also seemed as though it took forever for me to be able to turn on the light. the only thing i saw was curly black hair framing a shapeless face hovering over my bedside. it kept me awake all night thinking about it. what could it mean? and what kind of dream was it? and how do i keep from having another?

Wow, that is disturbing. I've never had one like it, and really can't give much help.
Sorry for the lack of info. |

It's a nightmare! In this sleeping position breathing becomes difficult after some time and you have to be woken up. Blame your own subconscious for the dream. The image is not real but conjured up to wake you. This dream is actually helping you! Cheers Wolfjk

What you were most likely experiencing was what is known as lucid dreaming; it is a natural and sometimes frequent occurrence in which it can be difficult to distinguish between the dreamscape and the reality of wakefulness.
