I subscribe to PounceWhisper's view; some influence must have got to your very maleable mind to make you dream in such a manner and to make you afraid. There is no such thing as heaven nor hell (this has all to do with society's politics) but, there may exists a spiritual plane to life unconnected to religion.

Default helpful verses

this is the best verse shows that God loves you and everyone in a personal way. It also gives simple and practical instructions on how to avoid hell and live in eternal happiness with God, no strings attached. I hope they will help unravel you mind:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through him." - John 3:16-17

Try not to think of God and/or Jesus as people who will restrict your life and keep you from doing things you really want to do. you don't have to go to church every Sunday or give up all your friends. The best thing about believing in God is this: you don't have to do anything but believe and your guaranteed a ticket to heaven regardless of your past, present and future infractions, weather big or small. consider this and please reply.

God so loved the world that he set man against man and in one of his minor blessings eliminated 6m Jews and slaughtered millions of soldiers in the wars he created and had Josepf Stalin (his right hand man) eliminate around 20m people and caused the tragic deaths of 3.5k in the twin tower disasters and that's only a minor sample of his totally unselfish love. He sent one of his guardian angels, a womaniser called Gabriel, to inseminate a married 'virgin' (that's her story) who subsequently gave birth to whom today we call, not God's son but, the carpenter's son from Nazareth who never in his short life put any of his thoughts in writing; could he then have been illiterate? If you wish to join this bunch of schizophrenics then you will undoubtedly be welcomed with open arms when you will be able to claim being a conscientious objector if there is another war that requires conscripts. This hitman called the God-father is quite a guy if you don't upset him so say your prayers every night and if you catch anyone listening to you, then do let me know because I find him (who said it was a male) a slippery type!

i've only just began to understand the concept of christianity, even though i was raised one. as i grow older, i start to see the world in every shade of grey and i myself doubt how wonderful God is or if there even is such a thing.
i ask: if God wants us all to love one another then why doesn;t he want world peace? is it because he's just as dependant on us as we are on him? i also asked people in my youth group, why did God make us to think evil thoughts? why does there have to be wars and greed and fear at all? i was just told that we cant be like God. i still dont really understand the purpose of us being here...there's too many questions and religion is far too confusing for those of us who were made to think outside the box.
my belief is, that God, existing or not, brings hope, and without hope there is no life.
you do not have to belong to any religion to believe in God. i remember someone telling me (in the bible), that we shoudl be IN the world but not OF it. Do not conform to societies expectations, in the end it is God who will judge us, by our concience alone. there is no single human being on this planet that determines who goes to hell and who goes to heaven.
in MY opinion, if you believe in God, then you MIGHT go to heaven, as long as your heart and concience are pure. by pure, i mean if you'd rather help soeone then hurt someone, if you would rather give your own life(not necessarily in the literal sense) than to see your loved ones suffer or die, if you care enough to speak your own mind and give voice to those who cant, these sorts of things, to me, sound like a pure heart. you dont have to go to church to worship and you certainly dont have to listen to others telling you where you're going in the next life.
F##K 'EM
live the way you believe God wants you to live, without narrow minded materialstic, one way thinking. just remember that there's serial killers and rapists and gang bangers out there who believe in god, but when teh time comes and they, in their hearts, still desire to inflict pain and misery and fear, i dont think they will go to heaven. they might ask for forgiveness but if it's still in thier hearts then...forget it. i'm rambling now, but this is my own opinion, i'm in no way telling anyone what to do, only to consider.

now i'm not referring this to you because i want you to actually read the bible, but you DO NOT and cannot decide who goes to heaven and who doesnt. like you said "Dreams like that have nothing to do with where you go when you die." That's God's decision.

In my humble opinion ofcourse.

The use of the word God has its genesis in Judaism and like all words they tend to restrict the meaning of the concept. Unquestionably, there is a higher intelligence to this immaculate conception on which we live but man is no more made in the image of God than is the earth worm in my garden nor the flea in my bed nor the bacteria in my garden's compost heap, so let us not delude ourselves. Judaism hijacked God (or its concept) for itself. Later, when Christianity severed its connection, on doing so it interestingly used the term Judas to describe the enemy within, a higly politicised move and this is what orthodoxy religion is about, politics, or the battle for the minds of people. There is no such thing as purity nor hell, so relax, be responsible for all that you do when you will probably feel comfortable about yourself and start to enjoy your life.

Default light and heat

Jennings, you speak in eloquent words. I respect you point of view.

Is there such thing as heat? of course.
Is there such thing as cold? no.

you can have unlimited heat, white heat, or little heat. heat is only expressed in anything above 458 degrees F below zero (absolute zero). If there was such thing as cold, then we would be able to create a state colder then the lowest 458 degrees. Absolute zero is the total absence of heat.

Darkness, like cold, is the absence of light. You can have low light, flashing light and bright light, but when you have no light at all, it is darkness. you can not make darkness darker.

God is likewise is similar to heat and light. God cannot be the source of the Holocaust and the Twin Towers because the absence of God produces poverty, lust and genocide. This is the Devil.

I encourage you to read these verses a few times
Ephesians 2:8-9 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things you have done, so none of us can boast about it.

I do not want to sound prideful or holier-than-thou when I tell you these things, but I want to be humble.

Your analogies are fatuous, religion is not a question of opposites. You cannot support your belief of one God, then produce another, the Devil, to support your argument. How about a third or possibly fourth God? There is, unquestionably, an intelligence behind nature but it rolls on impotently and totally unaware of you or the diasasters it causes in its wake so don't put your hands up to it for help because it thinks you are a 'maggot on a dung heap'!

Ephesians 2:8-9 "God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things you have done, so none of us can boast about it".

What you quoted (above) is a well crafted piece of political propaganda, or the lure to hook the gullible by placing them in fear. When you and I meet on the other side, what will you then say, something like, "Oops, I've made a mistake"!

the devil is not a God but rather a fallen angel. God has the power to throw into hell and he his saving that day for his own time. How much more can we prove our faith than if we are given a conscious choice to follow God rather than being lead around like robots?
you have to believe to see.

I agree, you definitely have to believe to see. Only God has the power to decide whether you go to heaven or hell. If you think you're doing something wrong, then it isn't too late yet to do something about it. Cheer up mate. *wink*
