I have been having a very distrubing dream.
In the dream I suddenly remember or find a pet that I forgotten. It is usually something in a cage...hamster, guinea pig, or bird, even fish in a fish tank once. (I have own all of these one time or another in my life). But just recently it was kittens and last night it was puppies. The animals I find are neglected or dead because I forgot to feed them and give them water. This dream is driving me crazy and not a pleasant one to have. I wake up kind of depressed. Anyone experience this or have ideas on what it is all about? |

Dreams capture very immediate feelings. Pets often link to our own playful nature and abilityto have fun. They perhaps show that you want people mto shower attention on you. Its very much linked to the immediate mood you woke up in - feeling depressed.
------------------------ If people truly knew the meaning of their dreams they would be quite surprised. Many have helped perpetuate the myth that dreams are really deep and meaningful. True some are but the majority of dreams are simply part of our brain functions. They help us clarify everyday issues. These are very important at the time but are far from being crucial in the overall scheme of things. Freud and others talk of the deeper dreams. But that is only because of their interest in psychology. They also speak of lots of other dreams that are insignificant and just linked to the previous day. But these dreams are interesting in themselves. They too show how the brain works. So simple dreams with meanings like "I need to spend more time on my studies" are important. If we can understand the simple dreams we can apply knowledge gained to solve the more trickier dreams. I've had the same kind of dreams many times. A forgotten pet is symbolic of a part of your personality or part of your life that you have neglected and forgot about.
If I neglect my spiritual health, I dream I've neglected my pet fish. If I neglect any of the ideal characteristics normally part of my behavior but I forget about them, for example, if I forget to make a consious effort to have a positive atitude, I dream I've neglected pet birds, hamsters, or some other small creature. We can have too many things in life dividing our attention to pay attention to all of them all of the time. Sometimes, things in our life have to be allowed to die. I dreamed one of my pets had to die so another pet could live, the dream was saying I have to let some old ideas die so new ones could get attention and be nourished. ALso, the neglected animals can represents ideas/atitudes or whatever hidden in the subconsious that you have ignored. Very common dream, if only I had a dime for every time I dreamed I neglected a pet! |
