I have been working at it all day and I just can't seem to find the focal point of this dream. I'm usually really good at this but I've drawn a blank here...please help...
Dream: I'm wearing my ROTC uniform from highschool and I lead a horse (it was nearly a pony, but it was older than that...) behind a storage shed that I know to be the shed behind the house I'm currantly living in. I tie it to a trailor that is back there and leave. I know I have to feed it so I decide to grow vegetables for it to eat. I go to a store and ask an old farmer about spades and hoes. I pull vegetables from the stalks and vines that have grown and I get the feeling that I have forgotten something. I go back behind the shed and see the horse there, but it is malnourished, has a lot of its hair missing, and it has sores on its body...bleeding sores. I try to feed it some of the vegetables (most notably a squash) that I gew and it turns its head, refusing to eat. That's all I can remember...please help...it's really bothering me... |

Hi DMckay,
My word you do have some problems! The dream means the you care about animals, especially mistreated ones. The dream is a waking nightmare that imply you're forgetful and neglected the horse yourself. It is your annoyance and indignation with yourself that woke you up. The cause of the dream was your preoccupation with neglected animals. Cheers Wolfjk

Hi,
I see the pony in your charge as someone you love and want to care for, but somehow his/her needs have been "put on the back burner" ? Maybe some things in your your life came before the needs of that person. You truly feel tried to nurture the relationship, but kept saying, "I'll take care of it when I do________(fill in the blank) first. When you finally came to try and meet that person's needs, he/she said that it's "too late." (Refusing to eat what you grew.) Realizing that you are losing or have lost that person, you finally see the hurt the person is feeling. Hopefully this helps, and I wish you the best. Peace, Bright Dreamer |

Bright dreamer's sound's more like it....I did recently break up with my girlfriend, I really don't think it was her though...perhaps the horse is myself?

I have no idea where you are in life at present, but I would say you need to re-evaluate all recent decisions you have made and see how many you can change or re-do. You are feeding your Freedom SQUASH. What does that tell you? OK.....just revisiting your dream, I would think that recently you may have made some decisions that are not in your best interest. Take the time to listen to your heart and decide what is right for you. Do not let anyone else in your life influence your choices. TL |

Maybe like you said, the horse could be you. Did you feel your needs were neglected in your relationship?

This is a confusing dream. It doesn't seem to have a unifying theme, so I'll just comment on the symbols as I see them.
The small horse represents your power -- sexual, career, physical strength, health . . . you decide. All the things that you pride yourself in most as a man are possibilities. The vegetables represent a need for spiritual and/or emotional nourishment. I'm not sure how the horse and vegetables tie together. The horse was offered vegetables but turned his head away. This was an outright rejection of the food offer. Maybe, your effectiveness/power in life has been reduced due to your outright rejection of spiritual and emotional things? I'll guess that serious depression has been the result. Only you know. Anyway, the vegetables signify that you desparately need to fill an emptiness within. There were sores on the horse. Your power (see above) is suffering and this has led to depression or ill health and it all stems from the way you have ignored your spiritual/emotional hunger. The missing hair might tell of illness or a fear of growing old. If the power is sexual and you suffer from impotence, you might want to get your prostate checked. Your ROTC uniform represents the time in your past when you felt most confident. In uniform, you lead the sick horse (your wounded power) to a trailer and tie him there. I'm shaky on this, but it seems like something your past is holding you back. I say this because the trailer represents what you haul around with you in life--your burdens. The fact that you tied the horse to the trailer is the ultimate symbolism in this dream . . . don't you think? Your past and your burdens may be one and the same . . . I don't know, but the mixture is sucking the life out of you, incapacitating you. The old farmer and the tools represent that you are not working to full capacity. You need to do more. I couldn't find a unifying theme in the dream. Sorry that my interpretation goes all over the place. You seem to have a lot of things going on all at once . . . but, the fact that the farmer appeared in your dream means that there is something that you can about all this. Good luck. I want to add one more thing.
In the dream, one aspect of yourself (the man in uniform) led another aspect of yourself (the horse) to the trailer. The man went to a lot of effort to get the horse some food, but the horse didn't want anything to do with it. Basically, you led yourself to water, so to speak, but you couldn't make yourself drink . . . This might indicate that you have a tendency to sabotage your best own efforts. Or -- perhaps you have start things all gung-ho (a spiritual journey, intimate relationship, a dream, etc.) but you lose enthusiam and don't see them through to fruition. Do you ever feel like you are your own worst enemy? You don't have to answer--just something to consider. That's all I have for now. |

You are obviously trying to care deeply about something that you really have no idea how to care for. You seem to be hiding it and are trying to care for it in a way that you think is the best, but it turns out, it's not. And you don't know what to do to fix what you have taken too long to fix. Think about what it is that you might be taking care of in the wrong way. Try to change the way you are taking care of it. It doesn't seem to be too important to you, maybe it's something inside yourself and you think it's not that important, but really it is. Your leaving something unrespected as a growing problem.
Hope I helped. |
