My Boss Calls

I dreamt that my boss called me at work to ask me to get started on some work. He asked if I knew what to do and I said yes. So I pulled out a report that we had written previously and a measuring ruler. I began looking at the table of contents and using the ruler to draw a straight line, stopping the line after every THIRD item. At first I thought I was doing it right by checking for every THIRD item, but then I became unsure if what I was doing was correct so I went to get help from one of my coworkers, Ken. I asked Ken if some of the items were correct. He helped me see which items I should ignore and which items I should count.
Any thoughts?

In the process of doing so problems arose that caused you to seek the advice of another operator or participant who pointed you in the right direction.
