Gun Massacre

My daughter is having recurring dreams of a gun massacres. She has had 3 of these dreams. They are all in different locations. She is there when it happens but always escapes. The first one was an outdoor location, and she was with her brother. They came running to me when it occurred and I just told them it was a show and not to worry (in the dream). The next time was at the mall and the shooter was a man. The third time (the same night as the 2nd dream) was a party she was having at our house and the shooter was someone she knows, but then turned back into the previous man she didn't know. She escaped by jumping in her brothers car and driving away. She doesn't drive yet. She is 14.

Given your daughter's age, she is coming into a time in her life where she is put into situations she must learn to handle, especially shows of aggression from others, and as suggested by the dreams, male aggression. The gun is representative as a tool of hostility. She may encounter these situations in random places like the mall. If it were my daughter I would make sure she knows how to difuse hostile situations and/or avoid them, also being careful to make sure she is not put in harms' way. Perhaps a martial arts class would give her the defensive assurance she needs to protect herself.
