Surprising wedding dream

Man, had a crazy dream last night and have no clue what it means. I dreamt it was my wedding day, and that I was marrying my first ex-boyfriend. Also, for some reason we had "slapped" the wedding together in a short time (even through things seemed pretty well put together minus some missing invitations). What I can't understand is why him? I haven't talked to him in nearly 3 years (ever since I moved away). Some of my friends in our hometown still see him from time to time and mention him to me. I had just talked with someone earlier in the day about weddings and such and I said when my ex and I were dating, if he had offered a ring, I would have said yes at the time. So why 3 years later am I dreaming about marrying him? I mean, I can remember having my hair done, talking to friends, looking for him making sure he was there, everything a bride goes through. It stopped before the actual ceremony - while I was still getting ready.

Was this my past and future meeting up in the present?

It was probably the collection of coincidences coupled with the probability of what might have occurred had you remained in your home town. This would indicate that your first boyfriend continues to be available. It is possibly just a bit of wishful thinking around what might have or could have happened with the realisation (just possible) that there still exists the opportunity. It seems a nice comfortable dream.

It would seem that way, but whether he's available or not, I probably wouldn't end up marrying him. We were on two different paths, even then. And even though I've never been married before, I seemed to be running around much more than the brides in weddings I've been a bridemaid in, or have at least attended. But thank you for your comment. I hadn't visited the site before today, when I was just looking for some sense to it.
