same dream for years

For years (since I was 16-years-old) I've been having nightmares about World War II. How in my every dream a German officer is chasing after me with a gun. Funny thing is when I dream that dream like I already know that it's a dream and I've dreamed it before. Every time I am running for my life through some old, abandoned house with bunch of coordiors, doors and stairs and there's never an exit.

Every time I wake up when that German officer (dressed in WWII uniform) is about to kill me.

Any ideas why do I dream this dream over and over and I've been dreaming this dream for years and it never goes away. I was born in 1970's 30 years after the WWII ended.

This recurring dream you keep having is an interesting one, and seems similar to many I have had. Though many of the "chase dreams" (as they call it) I have had are usually me being chased by a large and hungry lion or two. Always it is the same dream, and reccured for many years. I would wake up on the football oval across the road from my real life house and I would spot a lion amidst tall, yellow grass not twenty metres away. It would chase me across a hundred or so metres to my front door. I would get inside my house just as the lion reached the front steps. I was always terrified. And always knew I was dreaming, that I had dreamed it again. One odd thing was that when I awoke in my dream on the oval, I immediately thought "No not this again!" and events would immediately proceed as they always did. After four or so years they stopped, and I have never known why. I still fear lions, but maybe I had done something as to stop it? Anyway I remember reading something about chase dreams. The person said to try and ask your pursuer why he is chasing you. Wish I had the chance to ask that! Anyway, give it a go! Also please read my dream. I WAS in the German army. Maybe you have something to say about what I had experienced?

Also, I believe my recurring dreams of being chased by lions is to do with fear, and perhaps even anger or a certain life-style that kept catching up to me. Or maybe that I was trying to keep away from something, to find something better? Who knows? Anyway from what I gather these kind of dreams, or dreams for that matter, tell you something about yourself. Even your life course overall, or maybe an emotion or hostility that you are trying to avoid but keeps chasing you? Give it a thought.
