Hi Enigma,
Think of your dreams as your guardian angels, for that is what they really are. Dream wake you up when you need to wake up. It would help if you could solve your problem first, however no matter how bad your dreams are, they are only there to wake you up.
If your problem is to do with drugs, you must stop it. Drugs create confusion in the brain and the persons need more and more frightening dreams to wake them!
I hope you solve your problem>
Cheers Wolfjk

This happened to me more than 3 years ago for a period of about 2 weeks... One time I went to sleep in my bed and woke up to what felt like someone straddling my back and choking me from behind. After I was finally able to wake myself completely I just burst into tears. Ever since that dream I had trouble sleeping at night and instead of sleeping in my bed I began to sleep in the living room, on the couch, with the television on. I would usually stay up all night and as soon as my mother woke up I felt it was safe for me to fall asleep. But, on one occasion my mother was walking around in the living room and I was sleeping on the couch having a terrible nightmare about the devil controlling my body and forcing people to kill themselves... there was blood surrounding my nephew (who was 2 at the time) and it was just a very disturbing and frightening dream. Well, I thought I woke up and tried to tell my mom about it but every time I tried to speak no words would come out... and my mom was basically ignoring me. As soon as I finally came to, I saw my mom standing exactly where she was in my dream I started bawling and asking her why she wouldn't listen to me. She was confused so I explained to her the dreams I had been having and she invited one of her good friends over... they both laid hands on me and prayed in Jesus' name that these forces leave my body at once and I really felt it happen. I got chills all over my body and ever since that day, I have never had that type of dream again. I believe it is a force of satan that has entered the body, and manifests itself in your dreams.
i kept trying praying and stuff and i think it helps a lil bit well at least my mind has faith that i am alright, but i hear and see stuff i just try to ignore them and not pay too much atenttion and focus on reeal things hay que tener mas miedo a los vivos que a los muertos but still just the thought of having evil spirits freak me out! so maybe in your case it could have been that i have an open mind on those things. but looking that a lot of people feel the same way and have the exact feeling i think its just a brain confusing on whats real or not. and believe me that after watching so many unrealistic movies in the world your mind plays tricks on you but only when u let it get over your head so i think one has to have more control and just knowing that i am not alone and there is even a name for it! i feel relieved i thought i was going crazy lol but anyways just try to relax and not be paranoid at night and stop watching stupid scary movies!!! i mean there is enough going around in the real world to be scared about. so just feeding your brain with those horrible thoughts is just plain stupid. people should watch happy funny stuff cuz laughing its much better than being paranoid

Default Sleeping on a sofa

When you sleep on your back after some time breathing becomes difficult and it causes heave breathing, gasping for air and very often the feeling that something is sitting on your chest.

Falling asleep on a sofa or a chair causes some of the worse dreams you can have! Very often you slouch forward and obstruct your own airways. Some people would call this an out of body experience, however it is your own subconscious try ing to wake you up by frightening you with the predicament of not being able to get back into the body! This subconscious mind has many tricks up it's sleeves!
Try to go to sleep in a comfortable position! However if you get these sort of dreams, dont be frightened. When you realise you're dreaming wake yourself up, get comfortable and go back to sleep!
Cheers Wolfjk

Default Becoming Afraid to go to sleep

I've only ever had these dreams three times where no matter what I can do I cannot wake up. But after reading some of other peoples experiences mine are different I can remember exactly what happens to me and that makes it all the more scary I came to this sight in hopes that someone could help me get rid of those fears that there isn't something wrong with me. The first dream I had happened about two years ago but I remember it perfectly I was sleeping like normal having normal dreams when suddenly I felt like I was awake I was laying in my bed on my back with all my familiar posters and objects around me even though the colors weren't quite right so I knew I was still dreaming when suddenly a hand came and covered my mouth pushing me back against the pillow. In the dream the hand was invisible but I knew it was there and I knew it was a man's hand that was trying to suffocate me. I couldn't move except sort wiggle and as hard as I tried I couldn't wake up I had never had a dream where I couldn't wake up before I had always felt in control of my dreams. Finally when I thought I was going to pass out I woke up gasping for breath. I was so scared I couldn't go back to sleep and went out and stayed on the couch until my parents who's bedroom is right across from mine woke up. I was illogically afraid of being alone in my room. Then it didn't happen again for a year but when it did it was even more frightening. I was lying on my belly this time and like before I woke up in my bed and knew I was still dreaming everything was the same but darker in color then suddenly someone thrust their hands into my armpits I told my parents that they were tickling me too embarrassed to tell them that they were actually trying to grab my breasts and I couldn't do anything except wiggle slightly but not wake up. I heard a distinctively male laugh which a shiver down my spine and eventually the sound of a lawn mower freed me but what scared me the most was that I could still hear the laughter. I had never been so afraid I rationalized that I must have heard one of the neighbors laughing but they would have had to have been right outsidemy window because it was tightly shut. That time I had been home alone unlike the previous time where my parents had been right across the hall and I woke up with my body covered in goose bumbs and the hair on my arms and legs standing on end And it didn't happen again until this morning this was the worst one yet and it happened closer in length to last one and I'm afraid that they'll start happening with more frequency. Like before I was dreaming about normal things where with a jarring change I was lying on my side and when I tried to get out of bed something holding my back wouldn't allow me to move. Someone was laying next to me spooning me on the bed and holding me keeping me in place. I knew the person was a man and I panicked and starting moving back and forth but the more I moved the more firmly I was held in place then I felt a cold hand tickling my back tracing lines up and down I fought harder but could neither move nor wake up and I started breathing hard. I was stuck and when I moved just slightly I caught a glimpse of black hair and for some reason this scared me even more and I tried to swing my legs over the bed once more but they were stuck to the black haired man behind me. Suddenly the telephone rang and it freed me from my dream my heart was racing and my body felt stiff with goosebumbs and the hair stood straight up on my arms and legs. I couldn't get out of my room fast enough. I hope someone will read this and respond to me if they have any explanation for it because I becoming afraid to go to sleep at night if these horrible nightmares are going to start plaguing me more often. When I was a child I had hallucinations when I had a fever of people coming after me my mom says I used to say "Don't let them get me" over and over again. That doesn't really tie in with my dreams where I can't wake up but it is another strange thing has happened to me. I hope someone will reply soon.

Default The power of the subconscious

Hi Aurelius,
As you can see, your dreams are similar to other peoles dreams. We all have a personal style, however dreams are dreamt to do certain jobs in sleep.
You listed three different sleeping positions that caused you sleep paralysis. When youre feeling tired and under some stress the dreams have to be more frightening to wake you up.
I have been dreaming for a long time, but even now some of my dreams disturb me until I find the reasons for them.
The subconscious mind is very powerful and it can fool even the seasoned dreamer. One of its main tools is deception. It is a magician.
I have read your post and you can rest assured all your dreams are the work of your own subconscious. It creates the entities to frighten you awake. Take your dreams as your friends, sometimes your naughty and mischievious friends! However dreams always look after you. There is nothing to be frightened about!
Cheers Wolfjk

Thank you for the reassurance. I know I was blowing things out of proportion but I was really frightened. I still sort of am because I am afraid that if I fall asleep in those positions that I'll have those dreams again and I don't know how to get rid of those fears. The dreams may not have sounded very frightening but they were horrible and I don't want to experience another one. Does anyone know how to prevent dreams in which you cannot wake up ?

Hi Aurelius,
Actually it is the idea that you can't wake up that frightens you awake! It is a trick of your own subconscious! You can rest assured you'll always wake up! However, now you brought your fear out into the open, your dreams will probably stop. They will not have the shock value they had before came on the forum!
Cheers Wolfjk
