i have a question. most of my dreams involve my parents as evil, often causing me harm. no physical abuse ever occured in reality when i was growing up, despite the fact that the relationship between my parents and i was not the best. currently, i'd describe said relationship as, well, distant, neither bad or great, and literally distant in that we live in different countries. the dreams have become more frequent in this recent period and never really occured when we actually were living together. and unusually for my dreams, these dreams are rather violent and often disturbing, in which i never cause physical harm in response (though in life i am a very strict pacifist) but i do scream very offensive insults at my parents. i was just wondering if all this reoccuring stuff symbolised anything ? if you want more detail, just ask.
also, so as not to make a double post, i often draw my dreams. i'll post some of the images here in case anyone wants to take a stab at interpretation; i'll explain specific ones in more detail if anyone wants. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() thanks in advance ! |

I often draw my dreams. I'll post some of the images here in case anyone wants to take a stab at interpretation.
The First Image The date of the end of the Mayan ‘Long Count Calendar’. And the present Age. The fifth, I think. But is that a flying eye? The Second Image Very Apocalyptic. And weirdly evocative. It's a bit like one of those First World War battlefields - with the barbed wire, barren landscape, and 'bloody' colours.... The Third Image Makes me think of Lord of The Rings. 'Strider' who becomes King Aragorn II, 16th and last Chieftain of the Dunedain. Either that or some character out of Arthurian myth... . Or is he a messenger of some kind? The Fourth Image A boy and girl. She is holding two bloody knives. Why do they remind me of a junior version of The Macbeths.... Who murdered King Duncan so he could gain the Throne of Scotland. The Fifth Image Clearly war-related. I noted the 'blood' theme again. And the "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" on that sign. Does that say 'Wichita Falls' to the right? As it's in Texas, a neat link to President Bush's home state. Anything to do with the so-called 'War on Terror' in Iraq? I'll explain specific ones in more detail if anyone wants. Well, you've had my 'take' on those images. I'd be interested to know the actual background to them.... You're a good artist. Cheers. Jon.

yep, that's a flying eye : ) it's much larger than the picture communicates, that's by my guess several hundred meters in the sky. it's from the vantage point of an observer on the ground, and the dream involved the end of the world... The eye was going to destroy it. the locale i most remember from the dream was in texas. (I don't live there). There was a particularly disturbing scene to me when my parents and many others gathered on some sort of plateau with their cars to witness the event. There were people taking pictures (like the one i drew), reading the bible, talking amongst eachother, and just watching the eye. If it matters, I'm not religious. This is why I've always been interested in my dreams; I'm one of the most sceptical, rational individuals around, but my dreams are always so grand and fantastical.
The second was something that my head told me was also the "end of time". Apocalypses are quite common images of my subconscious also... in this dream, the tree was sentient, time did not occur (i wandered through the wasteland for several hours and the sun remained stationary). the tree could communicate telepathically with people but not through words, rather feelings... and it had to give permission to enter the pool. I don't know what is in the water. (hard to tell if it's water or blood since the sky was blood-red; thus so is the reflection) in the third, it is actually myself wandering through eastern europe. My head tells me romania. nothing really happens in this dream. occasionally i'll find a small, warm, abandoned shack to hold up in for a bit. The children are called the Belvederes, and they live in an abandoned, run down victorian house. the boy can paralyse others if they look into his eyes, which have something so unnerving about them i can't describe. the girl is an excellent marksman with knives and in that instant will kill the person that is paralysed. she is definitely pure evil; the boy seems to be merely a pawn of hers, especially since the room that they are in is full of tea party toys. the fifth image was interesting as it was the only stand-out image in an otherwise bland dream. it was wichita falls, TX, and i can confirm that no such pizzeria exists there to my knowledge. There were no specific references to the war except the sign, and the reason i drew it was because i thought that it was such a bizarre name for any food establishment, or really any establishment, for that matter. I've tried to figure out what "bleedbead" means since the dream but to no avail... very strange... oh and thanks for the compliment : ) Last edited by rukh : 07-20-2007 at 01:19 PM. |

Yep, that's a flying eye
Could it be The All-seeing Eye of God, though? The original 'Eye in the Sky'... . (i wandered through the wasteland for several hours and the sun remained stationary). the tree could communicate telepathically with people but not through words, rather feelings... and it had to give permission to enter the pool. I don't know what is in the water. (hard to tell if it's water or blood since the sky was blood-red; thus so is the reflection) Could be blood-tainted water... . The original Hobbit computer game [1980s; for the ZX Spectrum (my first PC!)] had graphics very much like that. in the third, it is actually myself wandering through eastern europe. My head tells me romania. nothing really happens in this dream. occasionally i'll find a small, warm, abandoned shack to hold up in for a bit. Transylvania, eh! Were you running away from Dracula? The children are called the Belvederes, and they live in an abandoned, run down victorian house. the boy can paralyse others if they look into his eyes, which have something so unnerving about them i can't describe. the girl is an excellent marksman with knives and in that instant will kill the person that is paralysed. she is definitely pure evil; the boy seems to be merely a pawn of hers, especially since the room that they are in is full of tea party toys. Odd name. Belvederes are usually follies or summerhouses for looking at beautiful views. Not psychotic kids... . Do you have any links with Texas? oh and thanks for the compliment : ) My art teacher despaired that I couldn't even manage basic perspective!! I am able to picture what I want to draw or paint, but haven't the talent to put it on paper. My pen is my brush, and I 'paint with words' instead... . Regards, Jon.

I suppose it could be God's eye, which might explain why i was so threatened by it, and i was the only one that knew something was off ; )
I've no idea what I'd be running from in the winter scene; although the dream was not really threatening... more just lonely and empty. The Belvedere twins on the other hand, absolutely terrified me. One of the scarier dreams that I've had. And yes, I've lived in wichita falls before, but it was only for a short while... i wouldn't think it enough to make me dream of it with any regularity. That's alright about the art; everyone's got talents in different areas for whatever reason. : ) and I know what you mean; what you want to put on paper and what actually appears on the paper in the end are often different; even for me... it's a very difficult transition, so don't sweat it : ) if you can do that with words or anything, that's quite an accomplishment to be proud of. |
