Hello,
I have searched this site for some explanation and couldn't find anything specifically related to my dream...I only remember parts of it but what I do remember is quite vivid... I was talking to my parents and noticed something hard was in my mouth. As I scanned my teeth with my tongue, I realized a portion of the front lower middle left tooth was gone...when I spit it out into my hand, it looked like a face of a tooth (lile a cap but only on the front of the tooth) was in my hand. I quickly went to a mirror and looked, the majority of the tooth was still in my mouth but was all silver. When I looked back into my hand the piece that had once been intact was broken into several slivers and I remember thinking if I can hang onto all the pieces, maybe the dentist can glue it back on... Then while standing there thinking about which dentist to call, I noticed a crumbly feeling in my mouth and soon found myself spitting chunks of teeth into my hand. The more I spit, the smaller the chunks got until it was small pieces like tiny gravel. I was so shocked as my hand was literally overflowing with tooth bits. Finally, I had my hands cupped and it was full of debris that didn't even resemble teeth...I was still desperately trying to hold on to it all. I glanced in the mirror and realized huge chunks of my top middle teeth were breaking off... At some point, my parents became aware of something happening with my teeth. One of them was dismissing the issue and the other was saying we need to get the dentist. They began arguing...I left the room and went to the kitchen where I got a paper plate and put the tooth debris on the plate...I then continued to spit onto the plate until it was full and overflowing and soggy... That's all I remember... HELP!!! Last edited by Tammai : 07-03-2007 at 06:35 PM. |

As awful a dream as this is, it is pretty common. I know several people that have had the crumbling teeth dream. To name a few . . . my youngest sister repeatedly had dreams about her teeth turning to sawdust. My older sister had one where her simply fell out as she was talking. And a friend had one where her teeth were made of delicate glass and as she chewed they began to crack.
I believe this is a classic anxiety dream. Are you under more stress than normal or unusually worried about something? |

Hi,
As your fallen teeth was in your hand and it was front and lower teeth means your sister will come to visit you. A crumbled tooth means someone will get ill and upper teeth means a male. Here is more about teeth dreams: If one dreamt his front tooth fell in his hand or fell on his side and wasn't polluted with soil means he/she will have a baby or brother or sister. If dreamt his front tooth fell on the ground and was lost in the soil means there is a death danger for his child or brother and sister, or they will separate him and there will be no news from them. If dreamt some of his teeth broke or was decayed means one of his family members will have a disaster. If dreamt his front tooth was hurt or was stoke means he will have enmity with a brother or sister. If dreamt one of his front teeth was pulled out means he will insult a brother or sister and will separate him/her. If dreamt his front teeth was added or were clean and good means one of his brothers or sisters will receive a happiness. If dreamt he had a new tooth beside the front teeth , if in upper row means he will have a baby boy or a brother , if in the lower row means he will have a baby girl or a sister. If dreamt he pulled out his front tooth may be one of the family will pull out a tooth. If dreamt all of his teeth were in his hand or fell on his side means his family members will increase like a groom or a bride. If dreamt all of his teeth fell down and were lost in the soil means some of the family will have a disaster. Upper teeth are male and lower teeth are female , Molar teeth are parents or grand parents. If dreamt his teeth were of glass or silver or clay means there is a death danger and short life. If dreamt there was a tooth in his heart means a death danger. Some interpreters say if a tooth fell down means he will pay his debt or will have a fight and argument. If dreamt all of his teeth fell on his side and he took all in his hand means he will gather the family and relatives around himself. If dreamt his teeth were good smell means the family will admire him. If dreamt his teeth were bad smell means the family speak behind the back of him. If dreamt his tooth ached and he pulled it out means he will receive some money. If dreamt his tooth was black and decayed means he will have a sorrow. If dreamt his teeth fell down and he wrapped them in a cloth means he will have a long life so that all of his family will pass away before him and he will take part in their funerals. If dreamt his tooth ached and he took the face with his right hand means he will receive less than 25$. If took his face with left hand means he will receive more than 75 $ and less than 250 $. If he took the ace with both hands means he will receive a good money. If dreamt he took a bleeding tooth among his teeth means he will pull it out or will have a disaster. If dreamt some of his teeth were disappeared means some of his relatives will travel abroad and will be back safely. If dreamt all of his teeth were gathered on his tongue and were in their place again means the family will complain him. Teeth may also mean : 1- family and relatives 2- money 3- benefits 4- A sorrow 5- hurt 6- Separation.

I don't think any of the moderator's response applies to my dream, I think it is almost certainly anxiety, maybe growing older, but not a vanity issue as some interpreters might suggest. One site also included a power struggle or the feeling of powerlessness as the root cause for the dream, and while this might apply, I have no doubt I am experiencing higher than normal anxiety in my life (Blood pressure rising, financial concerns, and career change)
"I was talking to my parents and noticed something hard was in my mouth. As I scanned my teeth with my tongue, I realized a portion of the front lower middle left tooth was gone..." A couple of weeks ago I had, in reality, lost this exact bit of tooth! Then she goes on into some other symbols not common to my dream, including silver, mirror, reflection. The idea that repair is possible could be important, and teeth-in-hand and crumbling seems relevant.Other notable similarities include: spitting chunks, increasingly smaller chunks of teeth, eventual mash of bits, "overflowing" collection, and desperation. On to my dream: .... my dream took me into the bathroom, probably following the first noticeable missing chunk of tooth. There I knelt at the sink, which had a wide sloping mouth to it, and as I began to scan my teeth with my tongue, I felt a wobbilyness to the lower tooth just left of center(23) and from which the chunk had come. (This is an unusual concern not present in reality, and I recognized this in the dream) I fiddled with it using my tongue, then with my finger, and the entire tooth slipped out of my mouth easily. After placing the tooth with my left hand onto the right hand side of the basin of the sink, I felt the sensation of chips of teeth. The more I scanned, the more my mouth filled with bits and pieces. Finally, I spit the mash of pieces into my hand and placed it with the first chunk in the sink. Now I was very worried, and I stood up thinking about this awful situation, wondering if this could really be happening. I actually pinched myself on the cheek, but thought how silly it was that I would even consider I may be dreaming; This seemed so real and I had my faculties with me (though I did not consider that there was no pain). Having considered the possibility, and knowing that I did not wake-up, I surrendered, conceding that I was going to have to deal with this. More and finer rubble appeared in my mouth, and as I knelt before the sink again, I spit globs of soaking gravel into my left hand and dropped it into the mash on the sink. The weight of the mash on the sink had it slidiing in toward the center, to be lost down the drain forever. I pressed the backside of my right hand into the sink, where the mash of teeth slid down and around it. I desperately tried to keep it all from sliding into the drain but the more junk that came from my mouth, the harder it became to hold it back from the center of the basin. The emotion that I felt was more like the feeling you get when you are about to go to the dentist or get a shot, or perhaps when you first realize you are going to have to do that. When I awoke what seemed like some time later, I still felt the emotion of my dream. Within a few seconds I was shocked and grateful to realize that It was indeed a dream! Life's not so bad after all. .. As I wrote this, it has become much clearer what it was all about and why I might have had this dream. A change in career path will put me into unchartered territory which is both more challenging mentally and will require much more work than what I know and have been accustomed to doing well. I am forced into moving on by my financial drainage and have been comfortable for a long period of time until now. In addition to all of this, I am feeling like I'm getting older, that a complete overhaul in my life may be a little late and that I'm realizing the women to whom I relate best are past their prime child-bearing years (or would be by the time I know them well enough to commit). Since I am within this uneasy period in my life, and I think I've started grinding my teeth during sleep, it seems very likely those sensations while dreaming would trigger a tooth related plausible nightmare of the surrender and deal-with-it kind. |
