Default Man in Mask- Reccuring Nightmare

To a lot of people this Nightmare might sound stupid but to me it aint it scares the **** outa me, to the point when i wake up i still dont feel safe for a few hours after the dream, infact to the point that in my awake life i feel that hes there somewhere waiting to get me when iam in a dark place.

Iv been having this nightmare for a few years now and it is the guy from the Halloween films, Michael Myers that is in them and chasing me, always in a different location he has never caught me yet and i dread him ever catching me in the dream

Il put it simple, the film iam terrified of, most people really dont understand what iam afraid of but theres something about that mask he wears, to me as soon as i see it, i go pale white, my heart starts beating fast and a feeling of unrelentless fear washes over me now you may explain this simply by saying, well your scared of it in real life thats why your dreaming of it but when i have these dreams i go through fear, emotions, anxiety, confrontation the lot and when i wake iam exhausted like when iam being chased i run like iv never ran before, its like iam running from something and i cant stop i have to much fear to face whats behind me.

i have been to the doctors because the dreams have got that bad and one suggested fighting back in my dream maybe if i face him/ or my fear then it might go but i cant take control of my dream, i try to i want to kill him in the dream and see what happens does anybody have any theories? i really would appreciate some help with this as i dread going to sleep now just incase i have the dream, does anybody know how you take control of your dreams and change them?

The mask is hiding something that occurred possibly in your early life and it has made you uncertain and afraid of the unknown. You are in denial and avoiding the truth which you are afraid to admit. You have been deeply emotionally wounded which hurts and the wound is still raw. You cannot comprehend the impertinence of it nor can you forget nor forgive. Its impact is affecting your life today. The only piece of advice that might assist in relieving this pressure is to try to understand that whenever something is denied (suppressed) it has the tendency to erupt in another form and grab you by the jugular at some later stage. Try not to be afraid of being honest with yourself.

I think the dream is about what is happening to you in the sleep. Generally in sleep you make the movements the dream suggests. In your case you are running, so the probable problem is tiredness or cramp in your legs. However as you seem to be breathing heavy and are tired when you wake, the problem could be your sleeping position. If you sleep on your back or your stomach that could cause you breathing difficulties. If you are a bit over weight you might suffer from sleep apnoea. It is a condition that causes your breathing to stop for a few seconds every so often in sleep and leaves you tired when you wake up.
My suggestion is to have someone watch over you while you sleep. Some sleep clinics do it. If you are on your own you could record the noises you make while you sleep, and check your sleeping position before you go to sleep and when you wake.
Don't blame your dream or the masked chaser! Your dreams are helping you to wake up or move from a bad sleeping position or from some discomfort you're experiencing while you sleep. If it were not the masked man, I'm sure your subconscious would find some other monsters to wake you. Your dreams are your guardian angels.

i dnt understand Wolf so your saying that dreams are infact a way of waking you up due to an abnormal sleep pattern and dont have any significance at all apart from just to awake you?

It is illogical to assume that we do not need any sort of control over our sleeping time. It is even more absurd to believe that we wake up without a waking mechanism.
Dreams are very sophisticated control systems that could not be understood without the present state of science.
Dreams use ones past experiences, the sleepers creative energy and imagination to control the sleep time, and to wake the sleeper. They give some indication of the character and experience of the sleeper. In some nightmares and bad dreams there are sometimes oblique references to the cause of the problem.
