strange dream, is it about my future career path or approval from dead father?

I had an unusual dream for me last night. As some of you know I am a painter, I paint large scale acrylic on canvas paintings which hang in galleries around the country and sometimes I am lucky to have something travel over seas. Last night I dreamt I was in a large gallery with a long hallway off of which were diferent exhibition rooms. I was there with my mother and uncle. This particular Uncle is the one who looks the most like my father who died when I was 12. But in the dream he was definitly my uncle because they had very diferent personalities also and he acted like my uncle as well. We were walking down the hall way of the gallery and my uncle was running around talking a mile a minute. My mother and I turned left into one of the gallery rooms which was dark, all the art was lit sparsly with several artists work arranged around the room. The set up was that each artist had one or two pieces hung on the wall below which was anywhere from 5 to 20 more pieces stacked leaning up against eachother against the wall below the hanging pieces for people to look through. There were people at tables around the room drinking cocktails and not paying attention to us. We looked all around the room and then I saw my work, just like the others, on the right side of the room with two hung on the wall and about 20 stacked below with several people looking through them. As I said no one was paying any attention to us. My uncle was still running around the room acting crazy (like he does.) He soon came over to where my mother and I were standing about 10 or so feet away from my work. I pointed out the work to him (I can still see my hand raising and pointing as if it really happened) and said "thats my stuff over there" as soon as I did that everyone within hearing dystence turned and looked at me, they wispered to eachother and stared at me and at the work. It didn't feel like a negative stare. It felt really weird. Then I woke up.

I was thinking it could be one of a couple things.

First, my father died when I was 12 and he would have been proud of what I have been doing with my art. I wonder if this dream has something to do with my wondering about that because my mother was in it and my uncle who looks the most like he did was also in it.

second, its just wishful thinking, but I do have pre-cogs often enough and I have had a lot of them lately, all small ones, but they have all been coming true and I do have a big show going up this weekend with a reception with a jazz band etc. I also have a group show in september with 40 other artists that was invitation only. I know its probably just wishful thinking but could it be a career direction dream? I don't imagin likely because only my pre-cog dreams are ever literal like that and I never know the diference till it comes true. Though I did have a show in NYC at the begining of the year, it was huge, over 30 of my recent works in a great neighborhood on the ground floor. I dreamt about that long before it happened. But this gallery in my dream had a similar feel to that one so I can't help think it might just be about something else and that memory is what my mind drew from.

Third. it could mean something completely diferent that I haven't even heard of yet.

Your dream would indicate the need to justify yourself to your father for reasons of which you will be aware. Your uncle in the dream is the personification of your father. The compassion of your subconscious is blocking out your father from your dream possibly owing to some disappointment you may harbour of him (although this does not deny your love of him). You have become aware that your art is disclosing to your audience the hurt that lies within and which controls your life. You have began to realise that those who purchase your work do so for reasons other than your artistic skill. You have become self-conscious of this feature and sensitive to what others think of you.

All art reveals something about its creator; sometimes the work is objective but more frequently it is subjective, and candid in its exposition (it is a confessional) yet, paradoxically, its creator is frequently unaware of this. Now that this revelation has arisen it could herald new horizons, either a change of genre in your art or possibly in life-style.

To understand is to forgive; even of your self.
