My Crush is an Action Hero!

Hello everyone. I had a dream the other night that I was at a wedding. I didn't know who was getting married, but I was there anyway, along with a few other people that I knew. A few rows over, I saw the man that I love. I've known him for over a year as a friend, and I love him as a friend, and would like to have more with him, but for now we can't, and I probably won't be seeing him again until the fall. Anyway, I kept trying to catch his eye during the wedding, but he didn't see me. Afterward, as he was getting ready to leave, I tried to catch him to say hello. Just as he was going to get in the car, someone pointed a gun at him and said "This is a stickup!" He went to put his hands up, then he turned suddenly and fought off the robber, and then all of a sudden a director yelled "Cut", and that's when I realized he was acting in a movie. I was happy for him that he was getting this chance to show off how talented he is, but I also felt a little sad because I felt he would forget about me. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Perhaps its your unconscious taking over and telling you that you secretly feel that this guy is way out of your league. The actor thing could also be trying to signal you that he may truly not be who you think he is. Maybe you feel he is trying to impress you too much (by fighting off the robber) then all of a sudden reality shoves in and the director says "CUT!" just to remind you that he is not who you think he is after all. I think you may be very wary of a relationship with this guy. That it wouldn't work out.

Thank you, Vee, for your thoughtful answer. I really don't know what to think, and I've been trying to sort out what and why. Let me just say this: my friend is very much a gentleman and always has something good to say, or not at all. Over the year and a half that I have known him, I've watched him carefully for any signs of ugliness, or jealousy, bad temper, etc., and have seen none. All of our mutual friends say that he's one of the nicest guys they know, and two of them have told me that my feelings for him are mutual, he likes me too, but he's got alot going on this summer, and I don't know if it counts for anything, but he's Greek, and maybe the cultural chasm might be something that scares him, because all of our conversations that I can remember, he always brings up that he is Greek. Anyway, it's not the first dream that I've had where he's some type of performer. I once dreamt that we were in a band together but that i was late for the show. As I came running with my guitar toward the stage, I tripped over a huge wire, and my guitar flew out of my hands, shattering into a myriad of little pieces when it hit the ground. I looked up at the band (wich was made up of some of our mutual friends) and they were all looking at me with stoney faces, except my friend, he looked mortified. So yes, in a way, I guess that I've always felt I would embarass him with my somewhat "redneck"roots, and behavior, though he's never acted like he would be, and the last time I saw him, he hugged me in front of all of them, and walked around making a big deal out of a little birthday card I gave him, showing it to anyone who would look.Maybe it's all just my own fears and doubts???

The second dream sure does point to your being very afraid to screw up in front of him. The breaking of a musical instrument takes joy of music from the scene. It seems to me you may be getting a lot of warnings here. This Greek, who was he hugging you in front of. Who are (all of them). Perhaps it is a cultural thing from his side. Where was he raised? (oh crap I gotta go rake some sticks up....be back in about 1/2 hour.)

Thanks again, Vee, I have to leave for work, too, but I will be back tonite when I can. Real quick though, the friends he hugged me in front of were all of the people in our bowling league. The ones in the band in my dream were all of the people on his team. I'm friendly with all of them, but this one woman in particular, I think she's jealous because she likes him too. Gotta gom for now!
