Hello, I just found your forum and thought I'd post this dream from last night to see if anyone more knowledgable about dreams would have some thoughts. Though I guess it's all pretty obvious from looking at dictionaries.
I dreamt that, while I as was at work (which looked nothing like where I work), I was waiting for a phone call from my boyfriend. First my cell phone was lost, then I found it and it was broken, the battery had come out. I couldn't get it back together again then lost the pieces which I kept looking for. During this time, a group of female friends had arrived and were simply there, in my office. Strangely this group also included my boyfriend's ex. I was nearly frantic, knowing he was going to call and it was important I talk to him because I was angry with him. He finally called my work phone which my boss answered (and was angry about). When I finally got to talk to him, I didn't feel comfortable talking to him because all of my friends, and especially his ex, were hovering nearby. We would start to talk and then stop with long silences. thank you, |

Hi,
A bad battery means losing some power and dignity.

I was looking at it as purely bad communication but can see aspects where you both may be right.
Thank you, |

Hi
Well phones tend to symbolise issues surrounding communication. It maybe that you expected some signal from your bf to express some feelings yet he has done nothing. Dreams are often about these unconbscious signals rather than verbal communication. But really dreams can be about things withihn your mind. Sometimnes you wake up feeling unwanted and unrespected and read too mnay things into peoples behavior. Dreams can be simply about these feelings about how people are treating you. ------------------------ To understand the dream mind you need to understand neural networks. Neural networks store up information by comparing one thing to another. They store moments when you felt similar. For instance one time you may feel extremely exhausted after you finished some exams. So when you have a dream it may point to this event as a way of expressing how you feel about some current event. Put simply a dream therefor says "I felt tired yesterday after completing the work tasks. I was really as tired as I was after I finished my exams last year". So a dream really express our feelings by pointing to a series of unrelated metaphors. Dreams tend to build up a meaning using a series of metaphors. So a dream may feature you "feeling tired", "feeling confused doing a puzzle" and finally "getting drunk". So the dream mind is actually building up a set of feelings by pointing to a series of feelings you felt previously. These seemingly unrelated events and feelings may simply be pointing to the previous day when "I felt tired yesterday at work. I steadily getting more confused. By the end of the day I was totally incapable of making any rational judgements". So in that way getting drunk expresses how you felt INCAPABLE at work the previous day. Its in this way that metaphors build up a dreams meaning. But the dream mind is refering to these almost like a list such as "felt as tired as I was during the exams", "felt very confused" and "I was aiming for a target". These pages are especially helpful in showing you how to interpret dreams Dream symbolism and dream dictionary interpretation - How to interpret dreams Interpreting dreams Dream symbolism - How to use dream symbols Triggers for dreams A dream dictionary that explores the variety of meanings in a dream symbol Dream dictionary |

Can you kind of summarize where you're at with your boyfriend at the moment?
And I agree with the communication issue that has been brought up. Seems like there's an elephant in the room concerning your boyfriend. Is there something you want to tell him but cant even though its pretty obvious? |

I guess it all comes together haha. Over a year into things and we just don't/haven't talked about where we're at. I did go to bed very angry that night because he didn't call when he said he would (the obvious). The friends in the dream have been critical of him at times. I have no idea why the ex was present, she's never been an issue or someone I've given much thought to (no, really, or at least consciously, I don't even really know her). The feeling of the dream was very much the same feeling as the few times we've argued in real life, always over the phone and always with silences. Although in real life we end up resolving the issue before hanging up, or at least, I'm starting to think, the surface issue. The only other time I remember him being in a dream, we were flying a large plane together and it had the same good feeling as when things are good between us in real life.
Jeez, after reading up a little, these don't seem like very original dreams/symbols! Anyway, it is pretty neat and I really appreciate all your input. Thanks! |
