Default Swarm of flies and a kingfisher

Hi, I have just joined this forum. From time to time I have very symbolic and surreal dreams and I do not fully understand them until the event has happened in reality which is why I would like to try and make sense of a recent dream I had.

In my dream, I am in my own house in the lounge watching TV with my mother and my children although I do not recall my son being in the same room, I think he was in his bedroom. His bedroom is upstairs however in my dream it appears to be down stairs next to the lounge.

All of a sudden the sky starts to become extremely dark (it is a cloudy but sunny day to start with), like an eclipse but much quicker and when I look out of the window I can see that it is a gigantic swarm of black flies slowly covering the sky like a blanket from right to left.

I immediately jump up and go to close all the windows and doors however some of the flies try to get in through any cracks or air vents. I run to my son's room and pull the curtains.

I am now running upstairs and see my dad (whom I haven't spoken to in 10 years) going into my bathroom and closing the door. I run downstairs and ask my mother why she let my dad come around to my house however before she can answer I run to the front door and open it for some reason.

A kingfisher bird is hovering and fighting against the wind and before I can close the door it flies in. It brushes my hair before it flies past up the stairs, I search all the rooms and cannot find it and so I open the bathroom door and it flies out and my dad is not there. That is where it ends.

Fly is interpreted as a nasty , abject person. If dreamt flies gathered around him means he will receive money from an ignoble man.If dreamt a fly got into his ear means an ignoble person will tell him a rude word.If dreamt flies bit him means people will be jealous with him.If dreamt killed a fly means he will suppress the jealous person.
Fisher bird means smeone who earns money.
Bathroom is a symbol for thinking too much to increase incomes.
I think your father will send or will bring you money.
Please let me know what will happen, it may take a month to happen.

Default Dream about Kingfisher

Sincerest apologies for not writing for over a year. I did not write because nothing happened in the few months after. In December of 2007 however, my partner (we were separated for a few years) and he did not live with us - he passed away in tragic circumstances.

His mother in a way blamed me and the relationship between her family and ours broke down. The little bit of money which my partner had left from his pension from work went to her as we were not married and she refused to give it to our son until he is 18yrs and has made herself in control of this trust.

I have not had many symbolic dreams since this time until a couple of days ago and more importantly a very detailed and symbolic dream last night of which I would be grateful for any guidenance on this, if I post it here.

Kind Regards and thank you for all your help and wisdom

What an amazing dream!

I usually interpret the house that the dreamer is in as being a symbol of the dreamer – usually the psyche but sometimes the physical body.

I believe that the people in the dream are personifications of the four functions of consciousness – thinking sensation, feeling and intuition. When they appear in a dream, they almost always show themselves as four people -- three who are the same sex as the dreamer and one who is the opposite sex. The two functions that have less consciously developed are the shadow and the animus in women (or the anima in men).

The shadow is always the same sex as the dreamer. Thus, the shadow would be one of the other females. The animus is always male and is only found in the dreams of women. The animus sounds like he is your dream father.

The darkness of the night could have several meanings. It might be a symbol of evil, which is coming your way. Or, it could be a symbol of the darkness of the dreamer’s unconscious, which you would have an opportunity to experience. And, it could symbolize the coming of a bad time in the dreamer’s life – perhaps depression or illness.

In many of the dreams that I look at, the house that the dreamer is in represents the dreamer. Thus, when you look out the window, you are seeing things with your eye. However, because it is a single window, it could represent your 3rd eye (at the 6th chakra). If this is what is going on, you are not seeing a literal darkness but a darkening of the spiritual.

There is a gigantic swarm of flies. This sounds like it is symbolic of the Beelzebub, the Lord of the Flies Beelzebub - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .

If you have dreams, which give you a glimpse into the future, then any of these meanings are very real possibilities.

You run upstairs, which means that you are going to a higher level of the psyche.

You see your dad go into your bathroom and close the door. The bathroom is usually a good sign in a dream. It is a place of elimination and cleansing.

You next go to the front door. A kingfisher flies into the house and brushes against your hair.

The front door is the front part of your psyche. It is, thus, a symbol of your consciousness.

The kingfisher is a powerful and impressive image. Because the kingfisher is a bird, it can be called a creature of the air (which is pneuma, the spirit). And birds are sometimes seen a symbols of angels or heavenly spirits. Both of the meanings are positive.

However, the kingfisher has an even more powerful meaning. It is symbolic of the legend of the Fisher King. This legend and mythology of the Fisher King is varied and it’s meaning can be a real chore to understand.

In the legend, a king is seriously injured (or ill) and is incapacitated. He can do little but stay in bed or fish. While he is sick, his kingdom suffers. After years of suffering, the king gets a drink of water from the Holy Grail or, in some other way, he is healed. Fisher King - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and The Mythic Perspective: The Monomyth: The Legend of the Fisher King

The meaning of the story of the Fisher King is far from obvious. I am certainly not an expert but I believe that the meaning is something like this. The person who is best able to help himself (or herself) and to help others is the whole or complete person. The complete person is individualized. He or she has managed to incorporate the unconscious into the consciousness.

This includes the giving of ourselves. Sometimes, the helper has suffered much. The wounded healer is then one who knows what it is to suffer and can be a better helper to others. The healer has gone through the struggle of incorporating the four functions of consciousness (thinking, feeling, sensing and intuition) into his or her consciousness. This kind of healing of the self and others requires a commitment on the part of the healer. The Mythic Perspective: Understanding the Fisher King

When the kingfisher brushed against the dreamer hair, the wisdom of the Fisher King was give to the mind of the dreamer.

This is the significance of your father going into the bathroom but never re-appearing. Instead, there is the kingfisher. The bird is not a symbol of your father. It is, instead, a symbol of the Self.

Hope this helps and is not too confusing.

Default Thank you

Thank you most sincerely for your detailed analysis of my dream. I will spend some time looking up and reading the references which you have referred to. I think that I will also need to read your reply again so that I can take each aspect of your analysis in to fully understand the interpretation behind the symbols in my dream.

I have from time to time had very symbolic dreams which have been premenitions of future events involving me. At the time, I brushed these off as strange dreams and put it down to my mind muddling togther different memories or things that I have seen on TV. I never used to read into my dreams.

It was not until we had a self-development class at work whereby they brought in an external company and specialist. I work for a very large company and they decided to run a two day exploration class on our mind and concsience etc. for self development to help us in our work environment.

We were told at the end of the first day of the two day workshop that all of us dream however we often don't recall/remember them. We were told to go home and to say to ourselves subconsciously before we went to sleep that we would dream and remember our dream in the morning.

I did remember my dream and it was very strange and extremely symbolic. The person running the class tried to interpret my dream and they did to a point however the main person of the dream, whose face I could not see (however who I felt I knew) was mis-interpreted.

My dream was explained to me and the person whom they said the stranger was, put my dream as an event from the past. Little did I know that with a different name associated with the unseen person in my dream which is how the dream was to unfold I had an accurate preminition of a future event which in fact happened the day after the interpretation.

The next significant dream was the Kingfisher dream which happened some years later. I have however had a strange dream several days ago and another dream which was also strange to me last night. I know they mean something but what exactly is un-be known to me. Also, I do not know if they are the future or just my mind going over recent events that have happned.

I will write about these two dreams in a new thread as so not to complicate this one. I would appreciate your insight into these is possible.

Many thanks once again.
