I Was a Candidate For an Election

I was in a crowded gymnasium at the former school where I used to teach. Many people that I knew were sitting in the bleachers. An election was being held for a leadership position between the principal (who I can't stand) and myself. I thought that I had no chance of winning so I was ready to turn around and walk out the door. Before I could do that, someone dumped the ballot box since voting was over. I saw my name written on a ballot and I thought to myself that I at least got one vote. However, my name appeared on every ballot so I ended up winning the election by a landslide. There was a dark haired woman who was especially pleased that I won.
Any help or interpretations are always welcomed.
