Demons/Wandering Along the River

I dreamed that I was leading a group of people through a very dense forest/jungle. Suddenly, I became aware of two opposing groups of glowing demons who were out to capture and kill my group. When I explained this to my group they agreed with me that a different route should be take. However, we were able to spring a trap where the demons attacked each other.
During the second dream, I was traveling along a river. I came to a house and went inside. I found many Christmas decrations and I wondered why nobody had put them away. Then it dawned on me that I had found a fleas market. The lady there tried to seel me a pair of casual jeans and a long sleeved white shirt so I could go to the beach this summer. I explained to her that I wasn't interested and walked outside. I began walking along the river again and noticed that there was ice floating in the dark water. Next, I met a woman and man who was talking to each other. The man wanted to know if the woman had any gas cans that she wanted filled in town. She shook her head no and explained that her husband went to town and got gas every day.

In myths jungles symbolise a barrier that has to be passed through, or an obstacle to overcome. To be in a dense or dark forest to enter the unknown or unfamiliar. It is a challenging place of testing and initiation. Full of hidden dangers.

The demons symbolise the darker side of ourselves - the wickedness and evil in thought and purpose. And sometimes in actions. Whether intentional or not. They are temptations. And, like the jungle, need to be confronted and conquered. As Christ did with the Devil in the desert.

A river is the path of life, and reflects our pace through it. Whether fast or slow. It can also reflect our state of mind. The bigger a problem looks, the wider and deeper it will be. Re the emotions, it may reflect their state. The river may seem calm and smooth-flowing on the surface, but with turbulent undercurrents. White water rapids can be a real state of turmoil. A river is also a mental and emotional barrier to be negotiated or ’bridged’. Dark water is mystery, unknown and hidden meaning and purpose. And like the jungle, hidden dangers.

Ice symbolises coolness in emotion. A lack of warmth or compassion. Or maybe fear of those ‘demons’ we have to fight? It also means being in a situation hard to free ourselves from - the frozen state.

To dream of Christmas signifies the marking of a particular time or event in a life. An occasion of personal significance, perhaps. Being green the tree symbolises life and rebirth as with the birth of Christ, The lights lift a mood from darkness or gloominess.
