Default meaning of yellow in dreams

The colour yellow has been showing up in my dreams a lot lately.

In the first one, a very close friend of mine was dressed in a Superman like bodysuit, the colour of a ripe banana with a leaf green belt around his waist.

the second dream I had last night, I dreamt I was riding on a small lawn tractor with my exhusband through what felt like a neighbors yard . There was a carambola ( starfruit ) tree laden with perfectly ripened fruit, yellow like the smiley faces and we stopped and I picked to my hearts content.
Though we were in this tractor together, we weren't really 'together' and the ride seemed very uncomfortable for us both.

What was most signficant about this dream is the presence of the colour yellow.

Default Re: Yellowing

Hi-

I'm wondering about the shades or nuances in the word "close" itself and in relation to the dream expressions of closenesses; also the way there is an absence of closeness expressed in the way the dreams express "closely." (as in alot of dreams lately)

Being close and not "close" as husband and wife is one way the soul of the word "close" talks in the dream about the nature of close and closed and closures. There are many shades to such things and many dimensions into which one may turn such ground.

The most obvious way and simplest way of opening space for thinking about the felt-sense you may have for the dream -opening the space in this alchemically "closed" enclosure of the dream space- may be this. Lay the image of yellowing things -things like very ripe fruit next to aging things like relationships that are "yellowing" in their close belonging-together, and continuing, lay the allure of new "close" things like friendships"ripe" (a kind of yellow, too) with the possiblities of May flowerings and September mowings aaaannnnnd how 'bout "making hay while the sun shines"!(unless, of course, its not that kind of hay)

Blessings,
mythopoet

What is your reaction in waking life on seeing a yellow patch in a field of grey? The colour yellow grabs your attention - you focus on the yellow patch.
In dreams the subconscious mind uses colours and light to raise your level of consciousness nearer to waking. Add to this the other surprising elements that chance in your dreams, and together they form the mechanics of waking.
Normally you will not remember the dream that woke you, however in times of stress or distress your subconscious has to create a stronger waking dream that sticks in your mind after waking.
Cheers Wolfjk

Default meaning of yellow in dreams

You have both offered interesting perspectives on my dream. Another interpretation I had regarding my close friend who was dressed in the yellow bodysuit was that there was no love around them and that they were feeling trapped in life and that yellow was a form of illness. So that was my concern when I dreamt I was picking all these ripened yellow fruit in my other dream. Though the fruit feels like abundance and something good, I am wondering if the yellow could also signify illness. But you both have not mentioned anything about yellow signifying illness.

Default Re: Imaginal Love

Hi- Keep in mind I am not responding to the dream itself but to your own narrative or story of the dream. Of that story, you share very little. From my perspective outside the dream and no matter the concern you fear, there is a loving in your dream-work.

Our dreams mean well for us and this felt-sense for being loved by our dream images is the deep mood of this dream as far as I can sense in your scant paragraph telling of the pair of dreams regarding the color yellow.

It may be that the accompanying fear of illness voids the usual personal content notions of eros that arise in young love and this dream-love is more like that of the grandmothers or the "old man" in the aging relations in your relationships.

Voided by impending age, yellowed with it or illness or death -not in flesh but into psychic maturation, the yellow reminds how relation is still intense, playful, and even if not tenderly, still carried carefully close.

Bless,
mythopoet

Default yellow in dreams/imaginal love

Hi Mythopoet:

I understand your perspective and at first curiosity wanted to understand the significance of the color yellow in both dreams. Now you have aroused my curiosity even more and I must ask if I shared the fullness of both dreams , would you give me your interpretation?

I don't dream very often and when I do they seem to bear such powerful messages and I feel at a total loss in their meanings.

Blessings
Pattiepoo

Hi

Well dream symbols have to be interpreted. They can mean lots of things. They should be seen in the context of the dream symbols.

In the superman dream the yellowness maybe symbolises something silly. Its as if your dream is trying to make some point about reality. Is there some man in your life who behaved in a superman style way that was similarly ridiculous.

Yellow can also just symbolise a mood. Its bright and happy and just see it from that point of view

------------------------
When you get a dream first try to see it in simple ways. In a very simplified version think if the dream is good or bad. If you feel good in the dream and things are going well then just sum up that portion of the dream as "feeling good". Then try to see where you are feeling good in life. Is there some relationship that is making you feel good? Is there some situation that cheered you up yesterday? Are you generally feeling good right now? Such simple clues are the easiest ones to trace. So instead of getting caught up in the details of the dream first take an overview. Many dreams work through changes in our feelings and will describe ways in which our emotions transformed. So first reduce your dream to a simple list of emotions such as "I felt good and was optomistic", "I was confused" and "I felt frustrated". The basic details of the dream may involve all kinds of symbols and hidden meanings but often you get the best clues from the feelings. If you take the above list of feelings in the dream it maybe exactly capturing your feelings from the day before when "I was really looking forward to work yesterday. Then a colleague started to interfere in my work project and I became angry. My ideas were undermined and I ended the day feeling frustrated". The dream itself may feature all kinds of silly details which bear no resemblance to reality but the dream captures the exact feelings and emotions over some specific incident.

Hi,
Your friend dressed in yellow will get ill in a month time.
if she or you give some help to the homeless people , it may pass slightly.
Good luck.

Default Re: Superheros and Solar Heros

Hi Patti-

I just thought of this.

I am relating the image of yellow to the sun-like happy-face sense you depict when describing the second fruit dream to the super-hero image dressed in the other fruit skin (a banana peel) in the first dream and I am relating now in the same 'a-peeling' way you are connecting them or see them as somehow connected.

The superhero is dressed in the same fruit-like way. He is sun-like. The depiction suggests he is dressed in the outfit of a solar hero and plays such a dream role in the underworld life of your dream. This suggests you will not be off-base to consider the dream through the myths of Hercules, particularly Hercules labors in the underworld.

Bless,
mythopoet
