Last night I had a dream about my ex boyfriend (We broke up 3 months ago, and this is the first dream I have had about him.) I was walking down the street with two of my friends, when I notice his car pull up to the side ahead of us. We reach the car, and he says hello to me. He asks me for directions- which happen to be for the place my friends and I are going to. I ignore him and proceed to walk to my intended destination. On the way, I am worried I will run into him at the restaurant. However, I am saved because the restaurant is separated by gender, therefore I do not have to see him.

Sorry, too delicate for me.There is no major symbol to analyze.
Waiting for your next dreams. Good luck.

Breaking up with anyone is hard. I've 'loved and lost' quite a few times. Themost difficult thing is, once you've parted, do you remain friends. And continue to see each other socially as such. This can make it awkward if you or they or both meet someone else. Not only for you but more for your new partner. How do you introduce your ex?
In my mind 'a clean break' is best for all concerned. The past is in the past. And should stay there. And just hope the ex sees it that way! But an amicable parting is not always easy to negotiate. Both my sister and I have found that is a difficult road....

Lilynne,
Believe it or not, I still have dreams about my bf from sixth grade. We grew up in the same town and I see him now and again and I always have dreams about him. He has been very nice to me in the times we have past (he should be, given we probably broke up over pogs) and he is always a strong positive figure in my dreams. On a more serious note, a year ago, I broke up with my bf of 2.5 years. We were very serious and had even discussed marriage- one day I woke up and realized he really was not the guy for me. After thinking about it throughout the day, I decided that I had to break up with him and did that night. It was a very bad break up and I did not dream about him for a long time afterwards. After 6 months of not talking/seeing each other, I had dreams (quite regularly) about my ex that were similar to yours- inconsequential meetings that were definitely not romantic. After 3 months of these dreams, I felt secure enough with myself to call him up and catch up without having romantic feelings. To this day, we are not best friends, but we are now in each other's lives. I think that you should view this dream as a good thing- I think you subconscience is telling you that you are ready to talk, but maybe not see on a social basis, your ex-boyfriend. I think the gender-seperated restaurant is stressing that it may be time to reconnect with your ex-bf, but to also keep your distance, maintain some barriers, and to keep it casual. Hope this helps!
