Finding My Way Through a Maze

My wife and I was in a field with many people of all ages. We were walking through a maze of sorts. It was a path with iron stakes on both sides of the path with rope running between each stake. Two boys ran out in front of me and my wife and I became separated. However, she stepped under the rope to get where I was standing. I told her that she needed to go back to the beginning and start over because what she did was cheating. She reluctantly went back to the beginning to start over while I waited.
Any interpretations are always welcomed.
