Default Going up a Golgotha like mountain

The other night I had a dream that I have been pondering and just can not make sense of it since I can not link it to my dominant feelings the day before. I wonder if someone can help me make sense of this dream.

I dreamed that there was a geographical location like Golgotha in Japan, and one day all the Japanese Christians decided to go there and remember Jesus's sacrifice. My husband said he wanted to go so we went to this town. In the town, it was shoulder to shoulder with people as the regular Japanese people had a typical Japanese festival going on. This was going on at the foot of "Golgotha" as well. However, as we began going up this craggy, rock mountain, I noticed how few people were there. I realized it was because there are so few Christians in Japan, but the ones that were there were sitting on stone benches and stone seats weeping and crying for Jesus. As we proceeded up the mountain, I noticed the people were thinning out, and at the half way point we were told why. We were told from this point on the police were harrassing the Christians and if we went to the top we could be arrested. We were advised to not go any further. My husband did not care. He said, "let's go on". Because of his strength and determination, I had no fear and said "okay". (In real life we have religious freedom in Japan) As we went up we continued seeing small pockets of 3-4 people sitting on stone benches crying out to God. There were no dry eyes. Finally we reached the top and if this had been the real Golgotha, probably in the place where Jesus was crucified was a 50ish, plump, greying man, face down, crumpled on the ground. Above him stood a 30ish, robust Japanese man shouting loudly that he was a full blooded Jew who believed in Jesus. Around the crumpled man stood 2-3 people who said the man fell out in the power of God when he heard the younger man speak. (I am not a charismatic Christian so "falling out" is not a part of my religious experience) They were worried though saying "what will we do? what will we do?" because they knew the police were coming and would arrest the man claiming public intoxication even though they knew he was not drunk. When my husband saw the scene he went straight to the man and picked him up. Upon be picked up, the man came to and broke into an enormous smile. My husband also had an equally huge smile as he picked the heavier man off his feet, hugged him tightly and heartily patted his back because he had found his old college buddy. (my husband is a reserved man so he would not express himself this boldly in real life).
Any ideas I would appreciate.

well given the time of year its probably about christmas. Each of the symbols problably captyure these types of feelings

GOLOTHA in japan : People openly worshiping christianity and celebrating christmas in japan

YOUR HUSBAND : your husband is openly embracing the spirit of christmas and recognising yoru own culture and need to feel special at thi time of year

So its really about you realising that your husband is making an effort despite the fact that its not easy to celebrate christmas in a non christian country. There is no public holiday, no special ceremonies and no special tv and thinsg like that. Christmas day goes past unoticed by many..

In many cases it is more accurate to say that a dream has no real message. Dreams do mean something but when understood they simply represent thoughts that you are already aware of. The dreams symbolise your own views but in pictures and images. It could be that the snake in your dream represents the fear that some problem will strike again(a fear that your boss will pick on you). Each symbol represents day to day emotions and fears and the way they interact can also provide additional clues as to what real life situations are being played out in your mind. Understanding such dreams will not usually tell you anything you already know. But it is interesting to know how your mind works.

Hi,
Going to a mountain means going to a big man.
Crying means happiness is on the way.
Police means a benefit.
So there will be a big happiness for the chriatians in your region.
Good luck.

In summary, in the dreams more literal interpretation, it sounds as if either of you or your husband (if you are indeed married) have had a religious conversion (the road to Damascus) and possibly one of you is thinking of going into the priesthood. The main part of the dream is telling you that the cobbles met beneath your feet were hard but today the way ahead, through your belief in God, is smoother. On the road to Damascus you appear to have felt alienated or isolated and current government policy about being political correct may appear threatening. It does sound as if you have embraced religion but at times you might feel as if you a fighting a losing cause.

Thank you for the replies.
"So its really about you realising that your husband is making an effort despite the fact that its not easy to celebrate christmas in a non christian country"

I don't know if it is about my husband making an effort since Christmas as I know it has never translated into his experience. He has never put up a Christmas tree, etc, and in fact he will work today (Christmas in Japan) and the day will be an ordinary work day for him. As for me, unfortunately my mind has not been heavily on Christmas lately either so maybe the dream is about we should be thinking more about Christmas.

"So there will be a big happiness for the chriatians in your region. "

Oh, I certainly hope this is true!

"possibly one of you is thinking of going into the priesthood. "

NO! Neither of us are considering the priesthood. However, I am considering how I can be more active in the church once we move to a location where there are more churches in my area.

" main part of the dream is telling you that the cobbles met beneath your feet were hard but today the way ahead, through your belief in God, is smoother. "

We are planning on moving next year and I do see a smoother path before me so I can relate to that.

" On the road to Damascus you appear to have felt alienated or isolated and current government policy about being political correct may appear threatening."

The government policies are very easy for me to live with in Japan so that is not a problem. However, I have felt isolated where I live now so I can relate to the isolation/alienation part.

"It does sound as if you have embraced religion but at times you might feel as if you a fighting a losing cause."

I think that can sum me up fairly well.

Again thank you for the replies and a Merry Christmas to all!

Hi paisley

WEll its often best to read too much into an interpretation. Understanding a dream is difficult when they are not your own. Its best to concentrate on themes and how they relate to your life. Yes the dream features your husband playing a prominent role in your church. Well that may or may not be taken literally. Understanding what each symbol means is confusing. Its best to concentrate on themes and how they relate to your life., Here the theme is of religion and how japan excludes you and your church.

In many ways its easier to understand the theme of a dream. Here it features religion so in some way religion and japan is the theme of the dream. So if the dream is highlighting how positive your husband is about christmas then that could be linked to the dream(but he has not). But exactly the opposite message is also aacurate too. Dreams show us making a point. Here the dream could be making the following point. "I want my hsband to help push christianity in the upbringing of our child".

-----------------------------
Always look out for Questions in dreams. They are very good clues. You may ask yourself a simple question in the dream such as WHY DID I DO THAT? It is very likely that this was a question you have just aksed yourself. Perhaps even from the day before. Try the following page for some helpful clues on understanding dreams.

Also try the following page as it features dreams which have been understood. This really is the best way to learn.

unclesirbobbyrobson, after posting here and considering what everyone wrote and knowing exactly what is going on in my life presently, I remembered previously you suggested the Cleopatra dream dictionary. Thus, I looked at it and I think I fully understand my dream now. The dream symbols in that dictionary clearly linked to my thought processes and circumstances the day before I had the dream so indirectly you helped me solve this dream. Thus, once again, THANK YOU!!!!

the cleopatra dream dictionary?

Was that the program that searches out the words from the dreams? or the on line essays?

I have that many dictionaries in that many places I lose track(LOL)

------------------
There is evidence to show that dreams can talk in a way that our waking minds understand. It just chooses not too. People have reported dreams which have included the literal interpretation of the dream. In one dream the dreamer heard a voice which stated that the dream meant "he was going to take a relaxed attitude to some problem that could blow up at any time". The symbols where very much consistent with this message. Dreams use quotes and questions when they get the opportunity. So why does the dream mind not interpret itself properly all the time? Dreams seem to be more of an internal process. Short term memory banks are switched off during dreams. We are not meant to remember them so why bother translating them.

Try the following pages to help you understand dream symbolism and how to interpret dreams.

I found it to be more than just a dictionary actually. It not only has the dream symbols with meanings but also the common symbols can be clicked where questions are asked to better explore the meaning of the symbol of one's individual dream. I think this is really important because it allows for individuality to dreams rather than just giving a flat one word answer to what a dream symbol means which most dream dictionaries give and it never makes sense to me. Also this dictionary links to other dreams using these symbols for examples of how the symbols are used in dreams. Moreover, it tells you how to understand the symbols. It took me a good amount of time to go through each symbol since there was so much information in this "dictionary", but it was well worth it in the end. Now after using this dictionary, I feel like you have given me the key to understanding probably 99% of my dreams on my own. Thank you so much for an outstanding tool!!!

You say it helps solve 99% of dreams. Well to be honest its that final 1% that I find most annoying. Glad you find it so useful. Thats why I made it.

Its interesting that you mention the questions. In later dictionaries I cut these and replaced them with quotes. I thought they were more useful. But I may restore them in later versions. Have you tried the online dictionary. That is a better version. Its a bit difficult to get yoiur head round at first but well worth the effort

------------------
The dream mind is where we form emotions. It makes judgements about the relationships we have and the situations we are in. It gathers together all available evidence and then starts to make a judgement on what your thoughts are. So embedded within your dream is a thought process or concept that captures some current feeling or thought about your situation in some way. A dream could therefor capture the following types of thoughts - "I am not sure if I truly trust my sister any more. She did not back me up yesterday" or "I need to have a better attitude towards my work or I will lose my job" or "I feel I am starting to get over my ex and may start a new relationship". Look for evidence of such types of thoughts in your own life and then within the dreams. If you were thinking about something in particular the previous day then its quite possible that the dream is about that. Try the following three pages on my website as together they show you how to interpret dreams.
