Dream from some years back - has this happened to you?

I would imagine that I was still in high school and had a dream/reality that to this day I have not been able to repeat. I was essentially completely self aware within my subconscious mind - I knew my body was asleep, but had my mind as a play ground.

Now this is where it gets a little crazy....

I thought to myself at the time that humans only use 10% of their brain and what if I could dive further into my conscious mind and open it up? So that is literally what I tried to do. As I 'pushed forward' a ringing in my ears started and increased in frequency to a certain point (the point where I was meeting a part of my conscious that had never been utilized or met before) when it was almost like I was electrically shock. My entire body shuddered, but I didnt wake up - my body stayed asleep, so I tried again. I had the same result only this time when I hit the point of new conscious awareness and got electrically shocked, I woke.

The experience was pretty amazing - it was almost as if my mind was stopping me. Like I was hitting a gate. I wish I could do it again, but have not been aware in a dream like state in a while.

Anyone else had this experience?
