Default Seeking some help about an strange dream I've had...

Hello! I've just registered in this Forum with the hope of finding an explanation for a very odd dream I've had a couple of days ago:

In this dream, I found myself walking through a street on a rainy night, along with my parents. After a while, they came to a building that I recognized as my gandmother's house, but the building seemed very deteriorated from outside, and I wasn't really sure about it. My parents went inside through the main door, but I remained outside for a while and then went in through what seemed to be a door to the basement.
Once inside, I saw an old man wearing monk's clothes and with an oil lamp on his hand, leading a small boy to a bed, and putting a sheet over him. Then, the old man went away. In that moment, I noticed that I was somewhat "invisible" to them, as none of them seemed to look at me or ask what I was doing there.
So, I decided to look around the room, and it seemed to be very old, and all the furniture was rusted or made of wood. After a while, I heard a very low cry, so I turned to the bed where the boy was, and I saw him there, and he had a really scared expression on his face. I approached, and, as I did so, the wind started to blow, and lifted the boy's sheet, and then I noticed that his chest was totally skinned to the bones, and that both of his arms were cut!
Totally scared, I ran for the door of that room, and then, through a set of stairs, that led to the main floor of the building. But I was so scared that I kept running until I reached the end of the stairs. There, I noticed that the entire room was painted with a clear pink color, and it made me feel a bit less afraid of what I've seen. Also, I saw 2 doors, looked through one, and saw my parents and grandmother discussing about something. I felt a bit uneasy about this, and closed the door. Then, I saw that no one was in the other room, so I went in... But then I noticed that the room was an exact replica of the one in which my grandmother's sister died several years ago. (And although I never saw her alive, my grandma used to tell me about that room when I visited her). The only difference was the clear pink color in the room, but everything was just the same, the furniture, the things, and even the only window in the room. Then, I noticed another thing that I didn't remembered about the room: There was a small wooden box laid in the floor. And when I opened it, I found many things inside about my childhood, inclusing my old story books and jigsaw pieces. Then, as I saw these things, I felt a ray of sunlight coming through the window, and when I looked up, I saw that the sun was rising in the sky...

Then, I woke up, but I was unable to forget this dream. Specially looking at the boy's skinned body, and the room where my grand-aunt died... So, I felt really impressed about those things.
The worse part about it, it's that I felt very tired all day, and I almost slept in class yesterday... and when I came to my house after school, I suddenly felt an enormous headache, and my temperature started to rise.
So, I had to go to the hospital, and there, the doctor said that my illness was caused by a very stressing situation, and that I must rest this weekend, until I feel better.
But today, I decided to investigate further on my dream, and I came to this page... So, I hope somebody could tell me what could be the meaning of this dream, as it really impressed me in such a way that it made me pay a visit to the doctor.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Going into a basement means a sorrow or disturbance is on the way.
A boy means a sorrow and an illness that you have now.
Chest is place of religion and secrets , if skined means a secret may reveal.
Hand cut of a boy is a symbol for diminishing the sorrow, if the hands were yours cut would means being put aside from a post .
Going from a room to another without locking them means curing an illness.
Pink color is a symbol for a happiness on the way.
Good luck.

Thanks... that really relieves me. And although I didn't thought that a dream interpretation would be precise... I'm amazed to see that it's really coincided with my actual situation. It's true that the circumstances are forcing me to reveal a secret that I promised to never reveal, and I've started to feel very ill since that night. So, I think that it's quite possible that I was already stressed before that night.

Well, thank you! I really appreaciate your help!

Hi Vexelius

Well you link this dream to a stressful illness and tiredness on the actual day of the dream. Thats not an uncommon cause for dreams. Dreams tend to link to day to day activities. They may link to relationships and the behavior of others and our changing opinions on these. They may also link to health issues or rally anything that is worrying us or occupying our minds.

I do not really interpret dreams. I really just look for issues within the dreamers real life and see what the various symbools could reprsent. In other words I try to guess what the dream could be about by seeing what is occupying their thoughts. Then I try to see how the dream symbols are consistent with the real life issue

So lets see; This dream features basements.Basements represent normally some kind of hidden feelings. they refer to negative and bad feelings. They can link to stress that is hidden beneath us. The dream features you exploring a basement and so that PERHAPS represents your exploration of your own stress

GRANDPARENTS : Grandparents are often symbols of their age. In this case they can have two meanings. The grandparent could symbolise your own need to slow things down and be treated in a special and spoiling way . It refers to you treating own illness and stress. But as well as that old people link to illness in a definite way. The old people show you feeling just as if you were like an old person - OLD AND TIRED. So perhaps that is the link. (btw are you male or female). The skinny looking boy may represent you if you are male. It captures your current health status

TOYS : the toys represnt perhaps the need to take a step backwards and enjoy some simple childlike pleasures. You may spend your recuperation watching childlike cartoons or something like that. It may simply synmbolise a need to take a slower and more relaxed pace to life and enjoy simple pleasures without worry

so you see there are several ways in which your dream could capture your current situation. the one common thing with dreams is that they seem to link very much to the here and now. They will maybe cover issues alive in your mind from the previous day but they may also represnt your thougts or feelings coming into the present day. Really most dreams relate to thoughts, feelings and situatiosn within the orevious 24 hours or within the next 24 hours

------------------------
By the end of the day we are tired and exhausted. Thats generally because of how the mind is organised. We store up memories in short term memory blocks. Its only at night that we start to work through what has just happened the previous day. We reform our emotions and transfer the important bits iof information into long term memory. Then we clear the short term memory blocks ready for the day ahead and the whole process starts again. So obviously there is a strong connection between the previous day and dreams. Look for the thoughts dominating your previous day. They will probably link to your dream.

unclesirbobbyrobson, I also share your viewpoint about dreams and its relation with our lives... But this time, I really got interested on this particular dream, because there was nothing that would led me to that level of stress. In fact, I'm very used to handle a lot of work and more than one project at a time, and lately, I've been even more free than other days, with just a couple of long-term projects to conclude...

Because of that, I felt that maybe my dream would be pointing to something else, more important and maybe worse than just failing in my projects, that's why I felt that I should consider the direct dream interpretation more than the "contextual" interpretation of dreams.

But, thanks to Varzandeh's interpretation, I was able to find out that, actually, what seemed to be a non-significant detail in my life some days ago, it's the main cause of my present stress... However, I've to accept that your method throw a real result also: As my mother told me not to watch anything violent on TV or Internet, I spent nearly all my recuperation watching Disney Channel... Yes, I'd like to tell that it was some sort of foresight... But I have to accept, that it was natural, after feeling ill by a great amount of stress, the most obvious treatment would be to keep me away from anything violent, leaving me with nothing but diseny cartoons and games. But it wasn't so bad at all...
By the way, I'm male, and 17... does my nick reflects anything different?

Finally, thanks for the great page. Yes, it really seems to be an in-depth, coherent and very straigthforward dictionary of dreams. It can be very useful for future reference!

WELL DREAMS CONNECTED TO ILLNESS CAN BE SEEN AS PREMONITIONS. i AM UNSURE ON THAT POINT. pERHAPS ITS JUST OUR BODY DETECTING AN ILLNESS IN ITS EARLY STAGES. SO ITS REALLY NOT SOMETHING THAT IS UNEXPECTED

BUT if I wasasked to guess I generally believe that it is more likely to be a premonition. many premonitions are of the day ahead.

------------------
Some dreams have lots of symbols in and seem bizzare. It is likely that these dreams are symbolic dreams and that hidden inside it is some concept forming in your mind. It maybe an intellectuall idea. It maybe a thought about a relationship. But it involves well thought ideas. A dream can therefor be about an idea such as - "I have got to realise that my relationship had to break up. It had continually been a failure". Think of quotes that summon up your previous day. Think of flash points which defined and shaped your emotions. Dreams then can pick up on the new feelings forming in your mind.

Try this page as it features a dream dictionary which will help you understand dreams
http://www.geocities.com/hairybobby2000/dreamessay.html

Each symbol can link to precise emotions and feelings. A railway could suggest that you have been heading in one direction and do not seem to be able to get yourself out of a routine. A farm or garden may link to new attitudes growing within you. You have then to weave the symbols together to form a conceptual meaning.

WEll yes your gender does affect the dreams interpretation. Old people ar often a symbol of illness. But here the illness is symbolised by the little boy. The boy symbolises vulnerablity. The grandmother then symbolises something else. If the old person was to symbolise illness then it would generally be of the same sex. If you were female then the little boy would have been a little girl.

------------------------
Dreams do symbolise your own feelings. Many dreams will capture the current state of your emotions in some way. A dream if it was reduced to a quote translated into english would probably include one of the following phrases "yesterday something happened and ... " or "I was lying awake in bed and thinking generally and my emotions were" or "I have been thinking about tomorrow and ...." or "I just feel generally.... "

So the emotions in our dreams are played out in often siilly storylines. The storylines make us feel that the dream is pretty bizzare yet the emotions are often precisely the same emotions from the previous day. You feel that same sense of confusion. You hesitate in exactly the same way. You feel down in exactly the same way that you were feeling down.

The following page shows the types of real emotions that dreams link to. It features correctly interpreted dreams. This page features police dreams but there are links to other symbols.
