Dreaming whilst awake.

Hi,
I'm new here so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
Occasionally whilst laying in bed at night waiting to fall asleep scenes come into my head which are very detailed. Just making something up here as I can't remember any of them now. I would see for example a man sitting down in my local shopping centre. He would get a comb from his pocket and drop it on the floor before picking it up and combing his hair. Then maybe a lady would come and sit next to him ( his wife?) and show the contents of her shopping bags. If I was thinking of a visit to my shopping centre the thoughts would be much less detailed. Also I sometimes hear sentences in my head whilst waiting to go to sleep. These would make no sence at all. e.g. "The green vase is ready and I haven't any dogs".
Has anyone else come across this or have any views.
