I had this dream a couple nights ago. It's still very clear in my mind. I'm very interested in your interpretations/opinions. Thanks!
My friend S had contacted me, saying that her husband (and also my friend, I met S through him) K had cheated on her and she wants a divorce. I went to their apartment (which was weird, since they own a house) to talk to K. Both K and S were there, but S was on her way out the door. S was very angry and lingered by the door listening - and said a couple of snide comments. She left. K said he was very drunk when he did it and doesn't want a divorce. I told him I'd do anything I could to help; I don't want them to divorce, either. I left their apartment to go to a softball game that I was playing in. The game was out of town, don't know where it was. But first, I had to go to an AA meeting (I'm a recovering alcoholic, 8 and 1/2 months sober). My friend A was with me, he was giving me a ride. I had also forgotten my softball equipment at home, so we were going to get new gear between the meeting and the game. During the meeting, I really had to go to the bathroom. I stood up to go. My friend D (not sure why he was there, neither he, nor A, are alcoholics) said something about disabling. He was seriously trying to be helpful. I said, jokingly, "don't worry, I am a disability." Everyone laughed. I walked into the restroom. It was a very large restroom, with counter and sink, mirror, and one toilet - no stall. I sat down to take care of business (I found this weird, I've never before done number 2 in a dream ). Two men came in while I was sitting. First, A came in, commented on the odor, and left. Then a man came in. He was both a stranger and familiar to me (don't know if that makes sense). He had dark hair, sort of unkempt. He was wearing a blue or black flannel shirt and a light green jacket, similar to a military jacket, but it wasn't. He asked what I did the previous night, but before I could answer, he said "too many Red Dogs?" I was confused. I didn't drink the night before and Red Dog wasn't my drink of choice when I was drinking. I finished, flushed, and went to wash my hands. I told him I did go out the night before and had Diet Pepsi/Coke all night. He then said something about women (can't recall what exactly, but it was sort of suggestive). I told him I had seen a woman wearing a green dress last night. She was so incredibly hot that part of me wanted to have sex with her right there on the table. I was surprised at myself for saying that - partly because it didn't happen, I simply made it up and told the guy. I left the restroom and A and I went downstairs to get softball gear. I was worried that they might think that I stole the fleece I was wearing. I don't know why, it's ten years old and had a cigarette burn in the front. Several employees were standing in the entrance to the store – all of them were women. One of them I recognized as a former co-worker, but I couldn’t recall her name or where I worked with her. She was holding a lost card (I couldn’t tell if it was a credit/meal/ID) and trying to figure out the best way to get it back to its owner. I went outside for softball. We were in the front yard of a large school. We started to play catch to warm up. In center field, there were two kids; a girl and a boy – I think they were siblings, but not sure. The girl was on her bike, not moving, watching the boy swing a driver that was way too big for him. There was a golf ball on the ground in front of him and he started approaching the ball. I sarcastically said to a teammate (don’t know who), “oh yeah, that’s a brilliant idea there, kid.” I was facing him, so the school was to my right. He took a big swing and hit the ball. If it had gone the way he was facing, it would have gone into the group of softball players. Instead, he hit it off the heel of the driver and hit a line drive that traveled along the wall of the school. It hit a window ledge; ricocheted back toward the front yard into an open glass façade supported by two pillars, and shattered a large pane of glass. The boy dropped the driver, got on his bike, and fled with the little girl. We chased them and finally caught them. Somehow, we had already talked to him and knew his name. We told him we were calling his parents. I started walking to the street corner while a woman was calming the little girl. I had a stack of old gaming books in my hands that I was going to sell. A asked to take a look through them. He had never been interested in gaming books before. He asked, "oh dude, can I have this one?" and I told him yes. My phone rang. It was my dad and stepmom. My dad was in midsentence when I answered making me think that I’d missed something. I had to explain this a few times to my dad for him to understand that I thought I missed something (he’s hard of hearing and often responds to what he thinks he heard, giving the appearance that he’s befuddled – he’s just too stubborn to go get hearing aids…stubbornness is a family trait, btw). Turns out, he was talking to my stepmom before I answered. Suddenly, I was behind the school talking to my stepmom face to face. She was wearing a white sweater. For some reason, I was surprised she was wearing a white sweater. That’s when I realized it wasn’t my stepmom. Well, it was, but it wasn’t. She looked like a completely different person. Someone I know (or knew), but not her. |

yeah, it is complicated. it's left me quite confused as there seems to be a lot of conflicting content, but some resolution, too. *shrug* hopefully somebody here can figure it out.
thanks for trying Sable.

I can see that you feel very responsible. Being responsible for you friends by being there for them while they were having a rough patch. Going to your AA meeting. Going to your softball game, not letting your teammates down. Chasing after that boy and making him TAKE responsibility for his actions.
I can also see that in the dream you were afraid of people judging you like that guy in the bathroom that assumed you were out drinking the night before. How you thought the store clerks would think that you stole your jacket. That is what I see in the dream. I guess your friends are really important to you. I can't tell you much in the "color interpreting" or "deeper meaning" but that is what I thought when I read it. BTW congrats on 8 1/2 months sober! |
