Default Dream: Gold or Silver on Top? Aug. 2, 2009

Dream: Gold or Silver on Top? Aug. 2, 2009

I woke up from this dream this morning, and haven't gotten far understanding it, really. I was at my mother's cousin Ella's house, helping her in some re-decorating project for her master bedroom, which is a very large room, part of a new addition she put on her house a few years back, which doubled the floorspace in the house. I was looking all around the new addition, a large master bedroom, bathroom with jacuzzi, and very large living room. The living room on the original house had become a formal dining room.

So then we go into the master bedroom, and there was a young guy there, myabe her son or grandson, I'm not sure. He is helping her put up this new wallcovering she had made on one long wall that had no windows. She had made the wallcovering by making patchwork fabric out of 4 or 5 inch squares of all different brightly colored fabrics. There were acres of this patchwork. Besides covering this whole long wall, it was also to be gathered in some way so that it sort of puffed out from the wall. There were so many colors and patterns, it hurt my eyes to see so much of it, and I didn't think it would be very restful for a bedroom. The fabric would have been nice on a bed for a quilt, in a more limited quantity. I could see all the work she'd done in the stitching on the back of this voluminous fabric. I wondered how long it had taken her to make it!

So, anyway, I'm holding up one area of the fabric, and she's off to my right, on a ladder, gathering and stapling the fabric along the ceiling, and I think she told me, or I just knew, that some sort of trim strip would go along the edges of the ceiling and floor to cover the staples when she was done.

Meanwhile, the young man was to my left, carefully examining one square in all this fabric, and insisting that this one square had been put in wrong side up. I went to look at it with him, and he showed me that back where the stictches were. The fabric looked just fine on that side, with some silver metallic color highlighting parts of the floral pattern. I wondered if he was right, because it did look like a top side of a fabric, but then I turned it over, and the other side *also* looked like a top side of a fabric, but instead of being highlighted with silver, it was highlighted with gold. I told him I thought she must have decided that she preferred the gold be on the top, and that it was just fine, but he still wanted to argue about it. I started thinking about how much work it would be to remove one square and turn it over, and thinking that he didn't understand how it was put together. It just wouldn't be practical at all, even if Ella agreed that it needed changing. She was too involved in her gathering and stapling to pay attention anyway. I told him again it was fine, and then I woke up. EOD

Any ideas? I woke up scratching my head on this one!

I haven't seen Ella in awhile. Sometimes dreams of her turn out to be precognitive or remote viewing of something she's actually doing though. She was my mom's best friend as well as her first cousin. She was sort of my second mom during my childhood. She's getting up there in years now, sadly.

Hi,
A wall means her life situation she will be trying to change the apparent of that. She was on a ladder on the wall means she has an anxiety.
A bed room is an indirect saying for a partner or her husband .
Putting a fabric means spending money.
Puffy means making up the apparent .
Gold means mmoney for ladies and silver means moral money.
A ceiling means her supporter or her hubby.
A son or grandson means a sorrow.

Default Partial Interpretation...

Well, I figured something out here. It's not about whether the gold is on top, it's whether the gold is what is facing OUTWARD, since this fabric is being hung on the wall, not laid on a bed. Gold symbolizes masculine, and silver feminine. I was correct in the dream: the gold is what should face outward, as it is the part of the mind most needed to deal with the outer world. The silver should face inward, as it is the part that is intuitive and insightful, and that reflects (another symbolic meaning of silver) on what is taken in.

I still don't understand the whole elaborate backdrop of this huge quilted fabric wall though. Or why Ella and the young man.

Thanks, Varzandeh, though I don't think any of this connects for me this time. I mean, she was on the ladder, because the ceiling was too high to reach without one, imo, and so I wouldn't even worry about a symbolic meaning for that. It was a normal place to be while doing what she was doing. Sorry, nothing connecting here at all. But thank you for the input anyway... it's always appreciated, and sometime surprises me by fitting!
