I'm not usually one for believing what dreams have to say, but then I've never had a dream quite like the one I experienced just two nights ago.
The dream began in the first of a series of fields, each with their own tree. I was walking with my partner, whom in all likelyhood will become my wife before long, we have been together for several years and I love her deeply. At the edge of my peripheral vision, I could see a black, disjointed shape forming, though I thought nothing of it, and continued upon my walk. Upon reaching the second field, it took form; a hugely muscular upperbody, to the point of the skin of it's chest and arms beginning to split and bulge in a grotesque fashion, but a normal pair of legs. It's worth pointing out at this section that I am a body builder, and very much top-heavy. It began advancing toward us, though my partner seemed not to notice it at all. I all of a sudden realised that this "thing" had no interest in me whatsoever. It began to try and walk around me. I squared off in front of it, still slowly backing toward the third field. It made no move to go through or, nor even to make contact with me. Upon reaching the third field, three horns began to slowly grow from its skull; two at either side, and one in the center. It seemed colossal now, towering easily above 10ft. It's eyes turned on me. And in that one, horrifying moment, I knew I was no match for it. Not physically nor mentally. I knew, with dead certainty, it was superior to me in every way imaginable. It began trying to work its way around me; at which point I noticed two blades in its hands. Two daggers. The hilt of the first was Ice Blue; cold and certain, whereas the hilt of the second was an illuminating crimson. Both of the blades represented the hilt; although it looked almost like clouds were flowing over and through the blades; each of the crowds a different shade of, for the ice hilt, blue. And for the crimson hilt, red. I turned at this point, sprinting with everything I could muster toward my partner, I grabbed her by the arm and hauled her to me; half carrying, half pulling her toward the tree. I risked a glance back to see the minotaur slowly and surely advancing. Coming closer to the tree, I realised how high up infact, the branch was. I knew I could reach it, but my partner could not. I pulled myself up, then reached down and began to pull her up after me. Just as she was almost up and free, the minotaurs hand snaked up with impossible speed, closing around her ankle and hauling her back down. I leapt from the tree to it's back and began thunder blows into its skull, spine, throat and anything else I could get at. It didn't even flinch. With one pitiful flick of its arm, it sent me hurtling 20 feet away, to land weak, powerless and terrified on the now brown and dying grass. I looked up and seen it raise the first knife, the Ice hilt. I screamed and began to scramble, crawl and eventually run towards them. The tree in the background began to degrade at a ridiculous pace; the branches rotting, the leaves drying up and dying, the roots shrivelling and curling upon themselves. The minotaur spent a second or two positioning the knife, at the lower left of her torso, and plunged it in, down toward the center of her being. It was at this moment I reached them, and it turned to face me, its face mere inches from my own. It's arm came up; but slowly to rest in front of me; the hand open and the crimson blade waiting me. Fear and worry replaced by blind, bottomless hatred, I grabbed the knife and jammed it into its throat repeatedly, the minotaur then turned away from me; at which point I tore the blade free and hammered it into the protruding spine of the beast, which crumpled. The minotaur, turned then, the neck cracking and twisting at an impossible angle to stare at me. The knife swept up; and burried itself in the beasts eye. It fell to the floor, without a sound. At that moment, all of the weariness and hate, all of the fear and anger disappeared, and I turned to face my destroyed lover; who lay on the floor, motionless within a pool of blood. The dream ends there. Any help, or light shone upon it would be extremely helpful. Sidenote: I've read that the minotaur can represent the bestial and instinctive side of yourself. Upon closer inspection to the female anatomy; the point at which the blade was plunged into my partner was the weakest point in the skeletal structure to reach the womb. Crimson is my colour of choice, and has been since I was a child. I have always wanted a son, and hope for him to be better than me in every way. |

Hi,
Nightmares like yours don't just happen without a reason. Quote:
Nightmares like this occur when something happens in sleep that needs you to be woken very suddenly! In sleep the sleeper often makes or simulates the movements the dream suggests. The verious moves you make in this dream suggests that you had muscle spasms or cramps in your chest and arms. You are over doing it! In the last week, there have been two body builders with bad dreams on this forum. It seems that something in the food suplement causes agression and violence. Does it contain steroids? However your dream also hints at a recent horrific murder that was and still in the news. Cheers Wolfjk

No, I do not take steroids. Only natural substances such as creatine, along with whey proteins, protein shakes, vitamine substitutes and so on. I am big eater of red meat, and probably eat several pounds of it per day. I have been on these suppliments for a long time now, and have never experienced any real rebellion to them. There is a lot, however, still left unexplained, the knifes, the womb, the four fields... and so on. Thank you very much for your response, and I look forward to more.

Thanks for your reply. I was also proud of my body and muscles - still am in my 70's. However I always kept to a healthy, normal diet. Quote:
Regarding your dream; it is a fact that you needed to be woken from sleep vith this violent dream. Your subconscious used your most prescious possession, your future wife to wake you up. I can't say how you felt in the sleep. I can only tell you how the subconscious creates the nightmare: it uses your past experiences thoughts, fears, and even current news items that you may or may not remember. Yourdream obviously refers to the recent case of the murdered woman whos baby was cut from her womb. You may not remember hearing or seeing the news item, however your subconscious got hold of it from somewhere and togrther with your desire to have a son, used it in your dream to wake you up. Quote:
Dreams have very little meaning beyond the sleep they happen in. You can safely discount any precognition or future reference. the knife the womb or colours have a function in the dream but no other meaning. The coulours are used by the subconscious to grab your attention, to raise your level of consciousness - no more! Cheers Wolfjk

Hi Paradoxx,
Given that the beast seems at first to be a shadow of your bodybuilder self, and then become a minotaur which you relate to a bestial nature, I think this dream is suggesting that you are way too focused on your physical nature at the expense of other parts of yourself. It seems as if it is saying to put that to rest, slay the beast, and focus more on higher realites, feeding your mind and heart and spirit rather than your body.

Some excellent responces, and I will take all of these into consideration from now on. Thank you all who have taken the time to consider and reply to my dream. Any other views would also be appreciated.
