Could this be an angel of death?

My mom had a dream a few years ago that she can never seem to forget about and still haunts her to this day. In her dream she is in bed and a woman comes up to the side of her bed and asks her to take her hand and my mom strongly refuses to take it. My mom says that the lady looked somewhat like a gypsy with shoulder length black hair, black eyes, a skinny nose, olive skin, and a purple cloak. Then in church she hears that an angel will never ask you to touch them and only a bad spirit with intentions of hurting you will ask for you to take their hand.

Can anyone help me better understand the meaning of this dream?

I think it's very difficult to make such a judgement by the info in your mothers dream. What was she going through in her life at the time? Had she had similar dreams?

Where did the people at church get this info? I've read the bible and I am pretty sure that bit isn't in it.

Well obviously she did not die then. So it was an immediate signal of her own death. Death can be symbolic for several things. It may represent a need to meet a deadline.
