In a dream I saw a dead uncle of mine that adviced me to look in an intensive way, stare at some people if they'd come to harm me.
A few days later I see a dream where I sit next to a friend who is dead in real life, and I stare at one of the people of the other dream. This person feels awkard and leaves her sit but I follow her always looking. I think the dreams can be related, but what's the meaning?? |

Hi Mideia,
I work with beads making jewelry, and some tribal cultures used to make a lot of beads called "eye beads" because they depicted a human eye on them, and their protective magical intent was to ward off the "evil eye." They were a protection against dark magic being done against them by someone who wished to cause harm. That's what this dream makes me think of. Maybe they got tired of staring, and made the beads to do it instead! Beyond that, I think that in staring, making eye contact, you are sort of telling them they don't frighten you, you won't cast your eyes down or away, you'll look right at them. Maybe your uncle thinks that will put them off. I'd kind of worry in real life though that it might instead challenge them! That's a hard call! It probably depends on the pyschological makeup of the person intending harm.

Τhanks a lot for your answer! Well in my culture too we have that kind of beads, and we believe in the power of the eye contact! So,it could be the first explanation, and that's what I think it may be,but I wanted a second opinion..
Well in real life I'm not going to face them soon so I guess time will show.. This meaning for the eyes meets in many cultures?? |

I have a wonderful book, _The History of Beads_, by Lois Sherr Dubin. In the index she lists eye beads in Africa, Bronze Age Europe, China, Egypt, Islamic, Roman, S.E. Asia, western Asia. So they were pretty widespread! I work mostly with gemstones, but also love antique trade beads, many of which were traded to Native Americans when Europeans came here.
The book contains a chart of a timeline of the history of beads, and it's just stunning... I bought it in a poster format, and have it hanging on my craft room wall above my worktable. They fascinate me! The word "bead" comes from the Sanskrit word for "prayer", so in very early cultures, they were tied to religious ceremonies, just as they still often are now. Well, I'm glad I was able to help!
