Is it normal to feel other peoples' emotions in dreams?
I've been having weird dreams lately, all of them are very emotionally. Last night was the one I can remember most. There was a young man (Who I know I've never met, but I get this odd Deja-vous feeling when I see him in my dreams), and he's walking in front of a large crowd and the crowd looks like it's faded (Like they're in his head). He starts running, but they keep following him, laughing and talking. Then, I get this overwhelming sense of fear and sadness and anger. He starts crying and that's when I wake up. The dream was like I was looking on at him, but I was him? |

Hi Punjee,
It is normal if you are open empathically. Empathy is a psychic gift, which allows you to feel other people's feelings. It is different than sympathy, which comes from having been through something similar to something someone else is experiencing so you can imagine what they're going through. True empathy is quite literally feeling what they feel. I am an empath, and actually have to do shielding to block some of it (see my White Light Shielding post in the chit-chat area if interested), or I get overwhelmed by an inability to separate my feelings from those of others. But it is very useful at times, when we need to get a picture of what someone else is going through. I'm not sure though that you can get empathy for a person you've never met, unless maybe it's someone you've met online but not in real life? Is there anyone you know online whom you sense (secretly?) feels this way? I generally have a pretty clear idea who I'm picking up when that happens. But I didn't used to; I just thought it was all me! I knew a woman once, a Reiki Master, whose son had been murdered. I had gone to her for a couple of Reiki sessions before getting an attunement, to see if I liked it. I'd pick up things from her during our sessions, once a song that I couldn't get out of my head, and I told her about it, and it was her son's favorite song, and another day, passing her leaving the shop where she did Reiki, my arms automatically flew up over my chest protectively, and I just knew she was feeling all the sad things associated with his murder that day, and that I couldn't allow myself to take it all in. She had a hard time! I understood too, because my brother died of a cocaine overdose, and my mother feared he was murdered. I know now he wasn't, it was sucicide because he was afraid of bone cancer coming back, but at the time, it gave me a connection with her, I think. This may be someone you can help through something, but first you'd have to figure out who it is! |

Actually, I think the White Light Shielding post is in the nightmare area. Sorry about that! It's a good way to keep out nightmares too!
