Default Need to interpret this dream

Hi,

I just had a very disturbing dream last night. I am extremely close to my dad and I cannot fathom ever losing him. I dreamt that he died. I was on vacation and received the news that he had died. Somehow I was able to (in the dream) to see as if it was happening right in front of me how he died. He was working on his house, like in real life he does every weekend when a piece from the ceiling fell over is head. I was also able to see the piece of wood that killed him and it was sealed in a bag like a piece of evidence. I was trying to book a flight to come back to the US but was told everything was booked until a week later. This is when in the dream I broke down to think I would not be able to attend the funeral. I woke up at this point.
I have thought a couple of times of my father dying and how devastating this would be. He suffers from heart disease, but is extremely well. I don't have an idea why I dreamt he died in this way. Please help me understand this dream.

Default Dad died.

Well, go over the ceiling of the rooms of your Dad's house, with him. See if you can't get a good look at the ceiling wood from say the attic. Don't let him do that part. Does he need to see his doctor again?

Hi,
I gather from your post that you're out of the US at present. If it is so, your dream is an anxiety dream. Negative thoughts about your dad intrude in your sleep and your subconscious wakes you with adream.
Relax! The dream is about what was happening in your sleep and not about your dad.
Cheers Wolfjk

most dreams arent that meaningful. i still have nightmares, they only bother me when i am really stressed and bothered anyways. like recently i had a dream someone died and i didnt even stop and think about it because i've been feeling so mellow.

your response to dreams is probably the same as your real life emotional response to the things that are on your mind.

not to say some dreams arent prophetic in nature, my guess on this dream is that it is fairly meaningless, but its your dream, your call.

Hi Cindy,

It may be that the dream is referring to the potential for a stroke. Many people with heart disease also have strokes. When my ex-husband had his strokes, I dreamed of one as what looked like rivulets of blood in snow (actually dura mater in hindsight) and the other as him soaking up water that was dripping from the ceiling with pink (bloody?) towels. Oh, and another with a leaky ceiling, where a young boy was running around with buckets trying to collect all the water. Does your dad watch his diet, exercise, watch his cholesterol levels? Does he do things like eating oatmeal or oat bread that reduce plaque buildup? You might want to talk to him about this. It could put your mind to rest, or help him to do some important things for himself.

I feel as if this happening in the dream while you were on vacation may also reflect a need you have to watch him, not be away from him, and yet, you know, you have to also go out and live your life! So, talk to him if you can, 'kay?
