Default Strange, short, non-sequiter dream without many common themes.

Hello everyone! I'm new here as you can probably tell. I've been having many dreams lately that don't have obvious themes or any cohesiveness, most of them bordering on nightmares. I'm really curious as to what others think they mean as a whole, not just small specific parts. I like to think I have a good grasp of symbolism and imagery so I can't wait to give other members here insights on their dreams as well. In the meantime, though, this dream has me absolutely stumped and I'd love to hear from anyone else.

It's pretty long so I'm going to just past the instant messaging conversation as I recounted it to one of my friends. Sorry if it's not the most readable format:

Quote:
(03:57:32 PM) me: okay well
(03:57:38 PM) me: i wasn't in the dream
(03:57:42 PM) me: or if i was, i wasn't me
(03:57:47 PM) me: but
(03:57:57 PM) me: there was a group of people resembling a family
(03:58:10 PM) me: an older brother, a younger brother, a mom and a sister
(03:58:21 PM) me: and they all looked very american and normal
(03:58:29 PM) me: a little chubby
(03:58:33 PM) me: the older brother had a buzz cut
(03:58:43 PM) me: you know, just regular people, nothing special
(03:58:55 PM) me: the younger brother was like 3-5, no older
(03:59:00 PM) me: and if i was in the dream, i was him
(03:59:13 PM) me: since the second half of the dream was directly in his perspective
(03:59:26 PM) me: but for the first half of the dream
(03:59:41 PM) me: the family was inside a small supermarket/large convenience store
(03:59:52 PM) me: like somewhere in between the two
(03:59:53 PM) me: and the older brother and sister, both probably around 14-16, were doing things like
(04:00:27 PM) me: smashing bags of chips
(04:00:32 PM) me: and smooshing fig newtons
(04:00:41 PM) me: ripping holes in packaging
(04:00:46 PM) me: you know, being jerks
(04:01:00 PM) me: and i believe the mom was too, but she wasn't important in this dream
(04:01:12 PM) me: so the little brother was following behind the older bro and sis
(04:01:54 PM) me: and he was really young, so he didn't have a mean streak in his body or anything yet
(04:02:20 PM) me: he didn't really understand what his siblings were doing but knew that it was wrong, and was wondering why they were doing it
(04:02:24 PM) me: and he was kinda upset by it
(04:02:50 PM) me: and there was some kind of futuristic display or device or something inside the otherwise totally average store
(04:03:30 PM) me: and it was filled with candy bars and everything, the shape of a huge microwave and kind of the same idea as a regular snack machine that you insert coins/bills into for chips and whatnot
(04:03:43 PM) me: and it had a shelf where all the snacks were resting
(04:04:04 PM) me: cookies, candy, chips, you know, everything a 3-5 year old kid would go nuts over
(04:04:37 PM) me: the little brother kinda diverted from his older sibs because he didn't like what they were doing
(04:04:50 PM) me: and he walked around the store just taking everything in like a wide-eyed kid
(04:04:57 PM) me: and he ended up walking past that machine
(04:05:16 PM) me: and it was futuristic because somehow it sensed that he walked by, and sensed something about him
(04:05:23 PM) me: and it started going off like a slot machine
(04:05:29 PM) me: like ringing bells and flashing lights
(04:05:43 PM) me: saying "you won! you won! congratulations!"
(04:06:11 PM) me: and all the candy and chips started slowly sliding off the shelf down to a tray that you could pull out and take from
(04:06:28 PM) me: and this is where it went into my perspective
(04:06:49 PM) me: i felt really bad like i thought i had broken it, like my bro and sis were breaking things in the store
(04:07:00 PM) me: and the machine was telling me like "claim your prizes!"
(04:07:21 PM) me: and there were like 100 different snacks there
(04:07:33 PM) me: in this big glass case with a shelf and tray and snacks
(04:08:12 PM) me: and i didn't want to take any, but i looked around the store and like two workers by the seafood station or something were grabbing lobsters out of the tank
(04:08:27 PM) me: and they were like "yeah! aw that's so nice for a kid to win! go on, take them!"
(04:08:35 PM) me: and the other one chimed in "take them! take them!"
(04:08:39 PM) me: and it kinda seemed surreal
(04:08:50 PM) me: setup like in a movie, like you knew something bad was about to happen
(04:09:37 PM) me: and i (the kid) looked really counfused as to what to do, like he knew something bad was about to happen too or just felt bad taking stuff for free with his siblings damaging stuff
(04:09:58 PM) me: but i turned to the machine to take the stuff out
(04:10:04 PM) me: and all of a sudden it was like tunnel vision
(04:10:21 PM) me: all i could see around me was the big glass case, but there weren't snack foods in it any more
(04:10:37 PM) me: and the lighting changed, like it was nighttime and cold and lonely
(04:10:50 PM) me: and i couldn't see anything else except this big case
(04:10:56 PM) me: that now had nothing in it
(04:11:02 PM) me: except for a few little rocks
(04:11:05 PM) me: maybe 5-6
(04:11:15 PM) me: and i was like "wha... what's going on"
(04:11:30 PM) me: and one of my siblings came over, i think it was my brother
(04:11:47 PM) me: and other than me and him and the machine ,it's like we're in empty space
(04:11:58 PM) me: and he's talking kinda funny
(04:12:16 PM) me: almost like slow, or just like... you KNOW something's weird
(04:12:27 PM) me: he's like "heyyyyyyyyyy littleeeee brooooo"
(04:12:33 PM) me: really slow and almost like he's underwater
(04:12:58 PM) me: and he points to one of the rocks
(04:13:10 PM) me: and he's like "cccuuuttttttttt ittttttttt oppeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnn"
(04:13:35 PM) me: and i suddenly see my hands inside the machine, and a little scalpel in my right hand
(04:14:07 PM) me: and it's just an empty machine, about 5 by 3 feet long/wide, but with the rocks in it on a black surface
(04:14:15 PM) me: and i'm like "uhhhh..."
(04:14:29 PM) me: and i look to my brother and he's like "doooooo itttttttttttttttttttttttttt"
(04:14:55 PM) me: so i move my hand around inside the machine to cut open the first rock, and when the scalpel hits it, it disappears
(04:15:29 PM) me: so i move on to another rock, and try the same thing. it doesn't disappear, but it doesn't get cut either. nothing happens to it.
(04:15:52 PM) me: so i look back at my brother wondering what's going on, why i'm doing this, what's the point, etc
(04:16:09 PM) me: and he says "tthhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeee biggggggggggggggggggg oooooooonnnnnnneeeeeeeeeee"
(04:16:25 PM) me: and i suddenly notice that the last rock at the end of the group to the right
(04:16:29 PM) me: is much bigger than the others
(04:16:36 PM) me: probably about the size of a small peach
(04:16:50 PM) me: while all the others are the size of a hard peppermint candy
(04:17:06 PM) me: and i'm like "ahh... okay"
(04:17:18 PM) me: so i take my hand and cut into the large rock
(04:17:38 PM) me: and it cuts, and the part i'm cutting peels off like skin, but still a rocky texture and everything
(04:17:47 PM) me: and it starts bleeding black blood, very slowly
(04:17:52 PM) me: almost like molassess
(04:18:26 PM) me: and as soon as i try to turn my head back to my brother to ask him like "wtf??"
(04:19:45 PM) me: my head won't turn, and a semi-rotten head of a dead woman that looked like it had been rotting in the ocean for weeks popped through the bottom of the glass case, shattering it, and spun around inside the case right next to my hand, but its eyes never stopped staring at me even as the rest of its head spun around, like they were detached and floating in space
(04:19:54 PM) me: and then the dream ended, and i woke up
Thanks in advance for anyone who helps!

glass cases represent stuff that you sort of want. convenience store type places are about simple convenient relationships. the display sensed you. that is interesting. maybe it is about you sensing what you might want and actually seeing a way of achieving it but feeling like too big of a jerk.

going real slow seems like it would be related to stress and tiredness. like life goes real slow when you are miserable. minutes seem like hours. stuff you don't even think about much can be stressing you out. mental weights and stuff. spinning something around in your mind is probably just that. the head is some way of thinking for you to analyse. it seems to be looking at you. it is expecting analysis. maybe your head wont turn because you dont generally look in the right direction.
